Greetings from your NOVA President,
Last Thursday night's 5K at Bluemont was a success! The overall winner was Ted Poulos, in 18:08 and
the first place female and second finisher overall was Laura O'Hara, in 18:28.
The first master's male was Eldon Mack, in 19:04 and the first
master's female and second female overall, was Betty Blank, in 21:39. The results of all finishers are listed below
in the results section. We will also
post the final results on our website later this week.
I was especially please with the volunteers who contributed to the
atmosphere with their positive energy, their focus on runner safety and solid
race support. The success of this race
is directly attributed to their contribution.
Finally, NOVA was able to raise about $250 for the Community
Connections, a charity based in the district that is the largest not-for-profit
mental health agency serving men, women and children in the nation's capital.
NOVA is planning their next race for the fall. We hope to expand the number of race participants
while simultaneously providing a fun environment for every one the shows up.
Dan

The workout is 2 x 1200, 2 x 800, 2 x 400, all with a 400 jog. The idea is to run faster as the distance gets shorter, so pace yourself accordingly. If you have any questions, give me a holler. See you out there.

| NOVA Volunteer Events | |
The Capital Running Company hosts these two races and the NOVA Running club provides volunteers as marshalls primarily, as well as inprocessing and bag detail as required. Races need volunteers and NOVA Running club does a great job in stepping up with as many as 20 to 25 volunteers annually for each race. These events are fund-rainsers for the club. The Capital Running Company pays us for our volunteer effort. As the time grows near please consider supporting these events whether as a volunteer or a runner!!!
Please contact Lynn Connors if you would like to volunteer for either of these events: lynconn450@aol.com |
