Greetings from your NOVA President,
You probably saw our e-mail last week advertising the NOVA's 5K to Benefit Community Connections,
http://www.communityconnectionsdc.org/, the largest not-for-profit
mental health agency serving men, women and children in the nation's capital.
Join us this Thursday, August 19th
at 6:30 in the Bluemont
Park South "Pavilion" aka
South parking lot, accessible from Manchester St. Registration starts at 5:30. Click this link to
show you exactly where we'll be: Google Maps Directions
If you are interested in running or volunteering let me, Samantha (Sam@tecole.com)
or Lynn (lynconn450@aol.com) know. We need about 3 more course marshals
including someone to make sure the runners turnaround at the right spot.NOVA would like to put on a few races in the fall, but we need support
from the club to ensure success. All of
races are low key, no pressure events designed to give you a workout and a good
time. So please come on out and show
your support. Dan Wallace President dan_wallace65@hotmail.com |
| Tuesday Track Session | T.C. Williams H.S., Tuesday, 6:30 PM
Come out and join us at T.C. Williams High School for our Tuesday track workout. Try to get there about 15 minutes early so you can warm up and stretch before we start. T.C. Williams is located at 3330 King Street, Alexandria, VA. |
| Coach Jerry's Workout |
Gang, the weather tomorrow should be a little more favorable than what we've had the last few weeks, but it will still be hot, so be sure to hydrate fully throughout the day. We're now starting to prepare for the fall racing season, which includes long races for many of you, and to that end, we're going to run some longer interval sessions. The workout tomorrow will be 3 x mile with a 400 recovery. When running long intervals, it's especially important to pace yourself properly, so be sure to hold back a bit on the first repeat, or you'll have a very tough night. If anyone has any questions about target pace, or anything else for that matter, give me a shout. I'll see you out there tomorrow.
Coach Jerry

| NOVA Volunteer Events | |
The Capital Running Company hosts these two races and the NOVA Running club provides volunteers as marshalls primarily, as well as inprocessing and bag detail as required. Races need volunteers and NOVA Running club does a great job in stepping up with as many as 20 to 25 volunteers annually for each race. These events are fund-rainsers for the club. The Capital Running Company pays us for our volunteer effort. As the time grows near please consider supporting these events whether as a volunteer or a runner!!!
Please contact Lynn Connors if you would like to volunteer for either of these events: lynconn450@aol.com |
