Road Runners Club of America
Issue: # 13 March 29, 2010
Greetings from your NOVA President,

NOVA runners have a choice!  This week we are trying something different.  We will meet at the TC Williams Track on both Tuesday and Wednesday.  You don't have to go to both workouts, although the coach would not recommend it.  Why two workouts?  The Coach is not available Tuesday due to the Passover Holiday, so he will meet those members who desire his services on Wednesday.  I will be at the track for those of us who want to meet Tuesday.

Why TC and not Wakefield?  While both tracks will have limited availability in the next month, TC doesn't feature multiple youth practices occurring during workouts.  For the safety of NOVA and the kids, we find that TC provides a safer environment for everyone.

Tues AND Wed Track Sessions

T.C. Williams High School, 6:30PM
We are beginning the spring transition to TC Williams HS.  Tuesday will feature Dan as our coach and Wednesday Coach Jerry will be back.  Pick a night or come to both!  Additional timers are always welcome if you only want to run one night.  The address of T.C. Williams High School is 3330 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22302.
Coach Jerry's Workout
Hey gang, I'll be at TC Williams on WEDNESDAY this week because of Passover observance, and I hope you can join me there at 6:30.  It should be a beautiful night, and hopefully we'll have the track all to ourselves.  I haven't firmed up the workout yet, so stay tuned for a separate announcement that will be coming soon.

Where to Run While on Vacation
With spring break plans galore and summer just around the corner, it's always great to find fun and interesting running routes that take you to see the sites of your next vacation destination.  Active.com published a brief article about City Running Tours (http://www.cityrunningtours.com/), who just so happen to have a few site-seeing routes for Washington, D.C., BUT you have to pay to go on these tours.  Surely you can read their landmark listings and create your own route without paying for the tour, but it might be worthwhile to get some local education while on a run.  Their other city tours include Austin, Charleston, Chicago and New York.  You can always use Walk Jog Run (http://www.walkjogrun.net/) or Map My Run (http://www.mapmyrun.com/) to find new running routes in your area or for where you are traveling to.  Isn't it more fun to see a new place on foot?  And what better way to do it than while on a run!
