FEATURED PLACEMENT
Richard Brangenberg, Commercial Project Manager - Solar Integrator
The COO (Founder and President) of this full-service solar electric system integrator asked Redfish to bring our expertise and resources to bear in the hunt for a proven Commercial Project Manager. This well-funded, privately held company develops, builds, and operates distributed solar power systems typically ranging from 250KW to 10MW each. The company strives to be the best commercial and residential solar electric installation company in the Tri-State area; and several hundred installations later the company's installations include some of the most attractive residential systems and some of the largest commercial systems in the metropolitan area. The position requires a strong contractor/sub-contractor project and relationship management background.
Richard Brangenberg has a long history in construction project management, demonstrating success in commercial, industrial, medical, institutional and solar industries. He has proven results in construction administrator and project management, managing multiple projects simultaneously, utilizing strong project and people skills, and driving cost effective solutions. With over a decade in the industry, and with a wide range of installation types and conditions, Rich has consistently shown the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget. Additionally, his knowledge of local contractors and solar rebates and regulations, made him ideal for this role.
"There is an increasing demand for employment solutions today that offer strategic integration to accelerate the process. In my opinion, Redfish went "over the top" for me there-by creating a pathway to achieve my maximum potential. They did this with respect for the individual, a commitment to excellence, and a rejection of mediocrity. Redfish ensured that all of their interactions benefitted parties and that both individual and company felt as if they "won"." - Richard Brangenberg

STAFFING & EMPLOYMENT NEWS
Job growth improved more than expected in September. Payroll jobs advanced 103,000 in September despite government sector contraction - private non-farm payrolls gained a total of 137,000 in September, following a 42,000 increase in August and 173,000 in July. Friday's employment report shows that the labor market is not quite as sluggish as earlier believed. Initial unemployment claims dropped sharply in September, back to the level of earlier this summer. Layoffs were up this month. At 115,730, this is the highest in two years however this is attributable to the government cutbacks, planned Army troop reductions, and Bank of America's recent decision to cut 10% of their workforce. Staffing employment in September is 3% higher than it was in August, according to the ASA Staffing Index. The index for September is 90, up three points over last month. This is the first time the index has reached 90 this year, but it remains 1.2% lower than in the same month last year. |

TECH TRENDS
TechAmerica Reports Jobs Rebound
TechAmerica Foundation published its Cyberstates 2011 report on October 5. The key findings support a lot of the buzz on the tech industry over the last several months - good numbers!
The U.S. high-tech industry totaled 5.75 million jobs in 2010, down in 2010 by 115,800. A midyear jobs report by TechAmerica for the first six months of 2011 registers an increase of 115,000 tech jobs.
The two percent decline in tech industry employment was less than half of the 249,500 jobs lost in 2009. Over the span of the economic downturn (2007 to 2010), the tech industry held it together better than the private sector overall, with a four percent loss of jobs versus a seven percent decrease in the private sector.
Technology industry job growth has occurred in all sectors in the first half of 2011, with the fastest growth in engineering and tech services. . .

GREEN TECH TRENDS
Green Energy and the Risks and Opportunities of Plenty
With the demise of Solyndra, there is great political pressure from many camps to cut back on green investment. Last month two DOE programs were cut already, including a federal loan guarantee program. But green investment programs have been under pressure since first proposed, despite wide agreement from experts that investment, including incentives and loan guarantees, are crucial to the future of solar and other cleantech sectors.
Investment in the scientific research that produces new technologies is a proven way to accelerate technological innovation and drive competitive advantage. Commercialization of innovation is at the heart of all economic booms and is the strategy being employed by competitors all over the world, who are investing massively in the green and alternative energy sectors domestically. Keeping that innovation at home and scaling it locally is the key to maximizing jobs at home and maintaining leadership in the industry.
. . .
And fracking is happening in small towns all over such as in Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, Louisiana - all of this domestic oil could add up to $2 trillion barrels in reserve, twice as much oil as the middle east, according to NPR. Within a decade, we could produce as much oil as Saudi Arabia, and within 5 years we could surpass Russia as the world's largest energy supplier. . .
