According to the EIA, natural gas production is projected to increase at more competitive prices; the rate of shale gas resources extraction will double. Non-hydro renewables and natural gas are the fastest growing fuels used in generating electricity. Renewables to increase by 13 percent, led by wind. Unconventional vehicle technologies increasingly adopted. Residential electricity use will be smarter and more energy efficiency measures adopted. Residential solar photovoltaic and wind capacity facing barriers inhibiting expanded distribution.

Gartner's Talking Technology Series features Daryl Plummer, Managing VP, in a discussion on the top IT predictions for 2011 and beyond.
