. Hiring Projections 2010 According to a survey by CareerBuilders, twenty percent of employers anticipate increasing fulltime, permanent employers, which is up 14% over 2009. Positive economic indicators include the decrease in the jobs lost each month over the last several months.
The main industries to be effected by the planned hiring increase are information technology, manufacturing, health care, transportation, financial services, professional and business services, and sales. While companies continue to watch their expenses, there are salary increases planned for existing staff according to the survey. However, the 2010 Salary Guide by Robert Half reports a small decline in the base compensation for many IT positions is slightly declining by an average of 1.3 percent next year. . Investment and job growth are strong in this sector! Clean energy has become a driving force in rebuilding the economy. Approximately $100 billion of the $787 billion stimulus monies will go to clean-tech investments and activities according to the Clean Edge, Clean Energy Trends 2010 report; and jobs are predicted to grow over the next decade by approximately 100% in Wind power, and 700% in Solar PV. Every state offers some form of financial incentive to drive a Clean Energy economy and jobs. An Ernst and Young survey shows largest corporations are ready to invest 3-5% of their annual revenues into Clean Energy technologies in 2010 on top of stimulus tax incentives and programs. Staffing & Employment News
Indicators are good, job listings are up on the major internet boards and several staffing firms are seeing gains. According to a Manpower Employment Outlook Survey for the US, employers have a positive outlook for the second quarter in 12 of the 13 industry sectors. Employers anticipate a considerable increase in hiring in Transportation & Utilities, Professional & Business Services and Leisure & Hospitality, and a moderate increase in hiring in Nondurable Goods Manufacturing, Information and Financial Activities. Bloomberg reports an increase in consumer confidence in March as Americans perceived improvement in employment. The March jobs report will be issued at 8:30 AM ET.
