Tomorrow, Saturday April 10th, the Goshen Chamber will be hosting a Candidates Forum for the Elkhart County Sheriff's election.  The Forum starts at 8am at the Goshen Chamber Building, 232 S. Main St., Goshen, IN.  The event is open to the public. 
 
Wake-Up! Goshen Breakfast Series on April 15th 
 
Micheal HicksWake-Up! Goshen will be held on Thursday, April 15th at 7:30am at the Bread and Chocolate Conference Center in Goshen. Dr. Michael Hicks from Ball State University will be the featured speaker talking about the economy. Click on the Registration Form and fax back the form to make your reservations.

Indiana Legislative Wrap-Up!
 
2009 Third House PhotoOn April 22nd, the Goshen Chamber and Elkhart Chamber will be co-hosting a legislative wrap-up to the 2010 Indiana General Assembly. A presentation will be given by Vince Griffin from the Indiana State Chamber as well. This is open to the public and will be hosted at the Elkhart County Public Service Building at 4230 Elkhart Road. For more information contact David Daugherty at ddaugherty@goshen.org.
 
Candidate Forum for County Council scheduled for April 24th 
 
The Goshen Chamber will be hosting the candidates for County Council Distric 3 on Saturday, April 24th at 8am at the Goshen Chabmer Building.  This event is open to the public and there is time for questions and answers from the public.

McGladrey & Pullen Announces New Assurance Director 
   
McGladrey & Pullen LLP recentlynamed Joseph Cataldo as an assurance director in its Indiana practice.  Cataldo comes to the firm with more than 16 years of experience providing audit and financial advisory services to private companies. He works with clients on the application of accounting principles, internal control policies and procedures implementation and various tax-related matters. "We are pleased that Joe has joined our team," said Troy Holland, McGladrey & Pullen's Indiana practice leader. "Joe's experience working with clients in a variety of industries, including manufacturing and wholesale distribution, consumer and industrial products and financial services will serve our clients well." Cataldo is a certified public accountant licensed by the state of Indiana. He is also a member of the Indiana CPA Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame.
 
5th Annual Weekly Classic Car Cruise-In at Das Dutchman Essenhaus 
- The campus of Das Dutchman Essenhaus will be the host site of a weekly classic car cruise-in during the summer months with no participation or entry fee.  The main campus is located at 240 U.S. 20 Middlebury, Indiana.  Beginning May 6th, 2010, and every Thursday evening through September, local collectors and enthusiasts as well as regional car clubs are invited and encouraged to drive their classic cars to the Essenhaus campus.  With many local participants taking advantage of showcasing their own vehicles, Joel Miller, Vice President of Development and Facilities states, "We have a great property with abundant parking that allows participants and spectators alike to really enjoy their time here.  On average, more than 150 cars are on display each week!"  The weekly cruise-in events are scheduled each Thursday evening from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm May through September.  Guests will also enjoy door prize giveaways, coupons for shopping and dining, and 50's-style music each Thursday evening.  Most evenings, hand dipped ice cream and occasionally live entertainment will be provided.  Tourists and local guests are welcome to visit.  Additional information regarding Das Dutchman Essenhaus can be obtained by calling 574-825-9471 or 800-455-9471, or via the Internet website www.essenhaus.com

Oaklawn Spring Spectacular - Friday, May 7, 2010, at Goshen College's Sauder Hall, Goshen, IN. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. program. The Patron Party begins at 6:15 p.m.  Featuring L.A. Times columnist Steven Lopez. A journalist for more than three decades, Lopez has won numerous national awards for his work at several publications, including Time magazine and the Los Angeles Times. He is the author of the recent bestseller, The Soloist, which was subsequently made into a major motion picture starring Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey, Jr. The book and movie chronicle the life of Nathaniel Anthony Ayers, a homeless Juilliard musician struggling with schizophrenia. Join us for this powerful story about mental illness and homelessness.  The Spring Spectacular is the annual fundraiser for Oaklawn Foundation for Mental Health with proceeds assisting those who are unable to pay for mental health and addictions treatment. Volunteers Needed 
The Purdue Extension office is in need of volunteers for their program titled "The Reality Store" that they put on for schools.  On Friday, April 23rd, they are in need of 15-20 volunteers to help teach students to budget money.  Contact Laurie Sula at the Purdue Extension office at 533-0554 or sula@purdue.edu for more information.
