Message from PSRi, JUNE 2010
Greetings! In the past week, several articles have surfaced lamenting the difficulty companies are having hiring top Developers and Technologists for positions throughout CA. In addition, we’ve personally talked with numerous hiring managers who are currently short staffed and concerned about future hiring as the demand for top talent grows. Pacific Shore Resources has been recruiting Software, Engineering and IT professionals for the past 15 years and we've seen three major downturns and recoveries. Each time, the job market comes back strong and this year it’s come back with a vengeance! If you’ve been contemplating a job change, now is the time! Visit PSRi to view our current openings, clients, references.

Who's Hiring in CA? Why?
While the California unemployment rate remains a dismal 12.6% overall, the demand for Software, Firmware, Engineering and Information Technology Professionals is skyrocketing. In a recent survey we conducted with 300 local Technology Hiring Managers, over 80% indicated a need to hire 1-5 people for their department this year. A recent report showed that Dice postings are up over 41% this year and according to the BLS, IT hiring was one of only two employment growth area for Los Angeles. A quick search on the job search engine site, Indeed.com, yielded the following astounding numbers. In California alone: Java Developers—15,000+ openings; C++--10,000+ openings; C# Developers—5,000+openings and the list goes on.
So what’s fueling this increase in jobs? Pent up customer demand, the need to complete projects, overworked employees, etc are all forcing companies to hire. More importantly, however, there is a renewed sense of confidence in the market and most successful firms are citing innovation and reinvention of their products, services and teams as their reason for adding staff . At a time when many technology professionals are still managing the risk of changing jobs and are hesitant to “jump from the frying pan into the fire”, it is important to identify and target these exciting, high growth companies for your next move. To provide some insight, here's why some of PSRi's clients are currently hiring.
1. Corporate giants need brilliant minds in R&D to stay ahead of the competition. One of our top clients, Samsung, is committed to innovation, growth and to staying at the forefront of the race for Home Networking and Convergence technologies. Known as one of the world’s most profitable companies, Samsung requires passionate, “out of the box” thinkers to bring future technology to market. Currently, Samsung is one of the leading investors in R&D and is the second leading patent generator in the US. There is a corporate directive to bring the best minds in the business on board. With SISA, Samsung’s R&D Labs, we currently have multiple openings in San Jose (20+), Irvine (4) and for a newly created San Diego Lab, 3 new openings. View R&D Jobs Key word: Lab
2. Start Ups are reemerging and are building entire teams. For instance, CT, a recent spin off from Fox/Newscorp, has solid financial backing and has contracted us to staff an entire technology company! While the requirements are tough and standards high, the need is real. In order to succeed, our client must hire from top to bottom. These opportunities represent a unique opportunity to work in the fast paced, entrepreneurial environment of a start up, while enjoying the benefits and stability of a world-class organization. While many perceive start ups as a risk, those that have survived the past 2 years and are hiring today are among the strongest, and offer the most technically challenging opportunities available. Current openings with CT include VP of Technology, Directors, Architect, Java Developers, QA, Product Management, Web Developers, etc. View Start Up Opportunities Key Word: SaaS
3. Strong, stable companies are again investing in technology. One of our clients, a successful credit union, has been using this past year to invest in software, technology and human resources to improve their business processes, efficiency and to provide a better customer experience. The stronger financial institutions have acquired their weaker competitors and are poised for future growth. New purchases and demands lead to new projects and integrations that require additional resources to handle the load. In addition to corporate hiring, one of our systems integration clients, GNC, has hired 4 Applications Consultants in the past 2 months in order to keep up with the demand of their clients, some of LA's largest companies. Currently, we have several ASP.NET, C# Development positions in Northern and Southern CA Clients. View .NET Positions Key Word: .NET
If you’re ready to advance your career but were hesitant due to negative market conditions, no need to wait any longer. You may not hear/see it in the media, but technology hiring is on the rise and you are in demand! Let us know how we can help you to identify and help you into your next career move.
