In order to better support these important efforts and continue improving the value delivered to network providers, ChiroCare has recently approved several changes to its corporate structure. The most significant change is related to my current position of President. Historically the President was responsible for overseeing all administrative and clinical components of ChiroCare's program, in addition to all Board of Directors activity. Effective January 1, 2011, the President position will be separated into two roles: Chief Clinical Officer and Chair of the Board. I have elected to step into the Chief Clinical Officer role, and look forward to continuing to promote the clinical benefits of chiropractic care and ChiroCare as an organization in that role. I am also very pleased to announce the election of ChiroCare's new Chair of the Board, Vivi-Ann Fischer, DC.
I fully trust in Dr. Fischer's ability to manage the ChiroCare Board of Directors in a professional, efficient and effective manner, and look forward to partnering with her to further advance the provider-centered vision, mission and values of ChiroCare in 2011.
Another adjustment to ChiroCare's corporate structure is the promotion of Tabatha Erck to Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Investopedia defines this role as "The highest ranking executive in a company whose main responsibilities include developing and implementing high-level strategies, making major corporate decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of a company, and acting as the main point of communication between the board of directors and the corporate operations."
After working closely with Tab for the past two years, her ability to successfully develop and implement corporate strategies, and manage the various components of ChiroCare's business has become very clear. I feel very fortunate to have her as part of the ChiroCare team and believe the CEO title accurately reflects her work efforts and accomplishments of the past two years.
Additionally, a number of changes to ChiroCare committees will occur on January 1st:
Credentialing Committee: chaired by Steve Jobe, DC
UM Committee: chaired by Howard Johnson, DC
Quality Improvement Committee: established and co-chaired by Rick Zarmbinski, DC and Paul Wernick, MD
Provider Services Committee: chaired by Greg Hynan, DC, on an interim basis
I believe that collectively, these changes will put ChiroCare in an even better position to achieve success and take advantage of new business opportunities for this organization. In the end, please know that all of our efforts are done with you - the ChiroCare provider - in mind.
I wish each of you a happy holiday season and ask that you take a few moments to read a brief message from your new Chair of the Board below.
Sincerely,

Dr. William Barrett
Chief Clinical Officer
A few words from ChiroCare's new Board Chair: Dr. Vivi-Ann Fischer
I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve my fellow chiropractors in this new role of Board Chair. I must also extend a sincere note of gratitude to Bill for his tireless efforts to sustain ChiroCare over the past several years. His accomplishments are many but those that stand out most for me include:
- Transitioning ChiroCare away from the Optum/ACN Group administrative model, improving the provider service levels and eliminating authorization requirements for the majority of ChiroCare's network providers
- Successfully shifting the focus of ChiroCare's work efforts back to the provider community through application of an updated vision, mission and values.
- Overcoming the loss of ChiroCare's largest client to achieve financial stability which supported provider bonus checks and the current development of marketing support/materials.
- Development of a staff structure to support ChiroCare's future growth and success.
- Improving the voice of the network provider through "Lunch with the President" meetings, Open Houses, Town Hall meetings and the development of ChiroCare's Field Advisory Committee
As the new Board Chair, my goal is to empower ChiroCare providers to achieve clinical excellence, making them the known providers of choice throughout the communities they serve. Additionally, I believe that based on the current shift within the health care industry, ChiroCare must revise its provider reimbursement system to reward positive clinical outcomes rather than high service volumes.
I look forward to working with the ChiroCare board and network providers to develop new tools and resources to help achieve the goals listed above and welcome any feedback or ideas you wish to share. I may be contacted at VFischer@ChiroCareMN.org.
Wishing you all a happy holiday season and a successful year ahead.
Sincerely,

Vivi-Ann Fischer, DC
Chair of the Board
