There has been much discussion amongst health care professionals regarding the scheduled transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 codes for medical diagnoses and inpatient procedure coding. Currently the change is scheduled to take place on October 1, 2013.

Current efforts related to the ICD-10 transition are focused on outlining the crosswalk between the two code sets. The CMS Coordination and Maintenance Committee is scheduled to discuss this crosswalk at a meeting scheduled for mid-September. This meeting is open to the public and is designed, in part, to collect stakeholder input on the current crosswalk draft. For additional information regarding the meeting, click here

Despite the ongoing efforts, many industry experts  doubt the roll out of ICD-10 will occur as planned due to the scope, cost and enormity of the potential change in CMS reimbursement methodologies, i.e. from CPT-based fee for service to case rate logic.

For the most current information regarding the scheduled transition and related resources, please visit CMS's web site.

CIGNA Claim Reminder
Incorrect claim submission processes will result in claim denials that require significant resources in your office to correct. To avoid inappropriate denials, please make sure that your office staff and practice management systems both support the correct submission process for CIGNA claims. Specifically, claims for CIGNA members, whose plan is administered by HealthPartners (as indicated by the HealthPartners logo on the card), are to be submitted to ChiroCare rather than the CIGNA address on the member's ID card. Submitting claims directly to CIGNA will result in the inappropriate application of non par benefits, as well as CIGNA's denial of a subsequent claim even when later submitted through ChiroCare.

Please note that due to the CIGNA flow process, payment on claims submitted correctly is typically slower than it is for other HealthPartners claims. On average, CIGNA claims are paid approximately 25 days from receipt, more than a week longer than the typical HealthPartners average.

For additional information on claim submission processes, please review your CIGNA Plan Summary or contact Provider Services at (888) 638-7719. Current copies of ChiroCare's Plan Summaries are always available by logging on to ChiroCare Connect.
HealthPartners Workers' Compensation Participation Deadline
Providers wishing to participate in the HealthPartners Workers' Compensation network on September 1, 2010 must deliver their signed Addendum to ChiroCare by the end of the day today, July 16th.  Addendums received after today will be processed but may be subject to a later effective date and may miss the cut off for the updated online HealthPartners Workers' Compensation Provider Directory. Click here for more information about this business opportunity.
UMCategoriesBusiness Development Seminar Update

Reservations will be collected until the date of the event or until all available seats have been reserved, whichever occurs first.

If you have not yet registered and would like to attend this information-packed event, please submit your RSVP via the tear off card included in the brochure previously mailed, or by submitting an email to info@chirocaremn.org.
