Quote of the Month Danger Sign

"I am your worst enemy. I am more powerful than the combined armies of the world. I have destroyed more men than all the wars of all the nations. I massacre thousands of people every year. I am more deadly than bullets, and I have wrecked more homes than the deadliest guns.

In the United States alone, I steal over 150 million dollars each year. I spare no one. I find my victims among the rich and poor alike, the young and the old, the strong and the weak. Widows know me to their everlasting sorrow. I loom up in such proportions that I cast my shadow over every field of endeavor.

I lurk in unseen places and do most of my work silently. You are warned against me, yet you heed me not. I am  relentless, merciless, and cruel. I am everywhere. I am in your homes, on your streets, in your factories, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

I bring pain, sickness, degredation, and death. Yet, few seek me out to destroy me. I crush, I maim, I devestate. I will give you nothing and rob you of all you have.

I am your worst enemy."

"I am carelessness."

Mulch Mayhem!

The newest addition to the NTS fleet is not a new driver or a big bad wrecker rather a little "Guy" - an S185 Bobcat with a sweeper attachment. This small but important piece of equipment proved invaluable at a recent rollover we were dispatched to. A tractor and flatbed trailer loaded with bags of mulch rolled over. While most of the bags were hand loaded onto pallets or another truck, there were a number of yards of loose mulch remaining on the ground from bags that had split open in the accident. "Bob" the bobcat was pressed into action. We were able to sweep up the loose mulch to clear the roadway. "Bob" was also utilized once the truck was uprighted to clean up all the used speedy dry on the ground. The speedy dry was sucked into the hopper of the sweeper attachment and emptied back at our facility where it could be recycled. This is just another way we at Nick's Towing Service always strive to be on the cutting edge when it comes to our business.

BMI
obese man
No, it isn't a new logistics term. BMI stands for Body Mass Index and is a measurement used to help define obesity. Knowing your BMI is important just like knowing your blood pressure and weight. It helps to give a more accurate picture of your total health. If your BMI is too high, you may be at increased risk for many chronic health problems including high blood  pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke & certain cancers. While BMI is only one factor in determining risk for the aforementioned health conditions and diseases it is an important one. BMI is best viewed as part of a total picture of your health. Other factors in relation to BMI that the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute recommend looking at include:
- An individual's waist circumference (abdominal fat can increase the risk for obesity related diseases)
- High blood pressure and physical inactivity.
If you don't know what your BMI is ask your doctor at your next visit and make a concerted effort to bring your BMI down if you fall into the obese category.
One of the things we stress in our health related articles is to gain the knowledge about your body and your health and be pro-active. You cannot fix what you do not know and it is the first step to a life of better health.

How To Load A TruckExtra

Pictured here is what happens when a trailer is loaded with all of the weight in the nose. The trailer rolled over, split open and left the yard horse hanging in the air.  This is an example of what not to do and why.

Suduko
Suduko is the latest craze that crossword puzzlers and the like have been having fun with. It is a great way to take a few minutes to relieve stress. Additionally if you are having a hard time solving a problem try giving your brain a 15 minute break by focusing on the suduko (or something new). Now go back to your original work. You may find you can better focus with the break and your mind may look at the problem differently and be able to solve it. Give it a try!
