Nick's Towing Service, Inc. - April 2012 Newsletter |
Greetings!
It is hard to believe the first quarter of 2012 has come and gone. Spring is officially here. The new cell phone law is a doozy and we'll continue to keep you abreast of new information and products available to help you keep your drivers following the letter of the law.
The featured recovery we highlighted below is one I am especially proud of as it included all divisions of our company working together in harmony- light duty, heavy duty, mechanics and tractor division. It's also a reminder to us all to get enough sleep!
I hope you pick up a nugget or two of information to take with you and as always stay safe out there!

Meet The Adjuster Michael (Mike) Luciano of Allstate Insurance
Mike has been employed by Allstate Insurance for over 39 years (not bad for a guy who still claims he's 29!). All joking aside, Mike is a Senior Claims Adjuster in Bergen and Passaic counties. He is the 2011 recipient of the prestigious DPA Award (Distinguished Performance Award) from Allstate. Mike's personality is one of his biggest assets and he represents one of the most respected insurance companies in NJ. When Mike comes through the door there is no doubt "you are in good hands". |
Retro Rhetoric
We received this email in response to our request for "blasts from the past" as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary: Talk about a blast from the past,
Nick and company:
The year was 1976 I was on the side of the road with a 1974 Autocar dump (broken crankshaft) about a 100 outside. Needed to be towed and had to in the shop before five PM. Naturally everyone is tied up. Who shows up but Nick himself with a ford wrecker, hooked up, pulled the axle and off we went, I am not driving any more and I don't think Nick is, however we still count on him the same way we have for the past thirty years and has never let us down no matter how big or small day or night rain cold no matter what. With any luck we will all be here to tell more war stories.
Thanks for everything,
Angelo and Dom

And Nobody Got Hurt.... Hard to believe by looking at these pictures but thankfully the driver of this car walked away from this accident. We were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident with the occupant still inside. Details are not conclusive if the driver fell asleep or was simply inattentive when he ran underneath a parked tractor trailer. Our rotator and emergency response van were expedited to help on scene. Upon their arrival, and the
removal of the driver from the car, we instituted our recovery plan for the extrication of the vehicle from under the trailer. Using our rotator, the trailer was rigged and lifted off of the car so that the car could be winched out and loaded onto our flatbed. Once the car was removed we jacked up the rear of the trailer, removed the rear tires & chained up and secured the axle. We utilized our tractor to transport the trailer, under escort to the companies location. This was a great team effort from all divisions of NTS!

April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month The month of April is devoted specifically to the prevention of animal cruelty. The prevention of cruelty to animals should continue year-round so we thought it would be good to educate you on how to recognize the signs and the proper way to report it. This way we can all work together to speak up for those who can't speak for themselves, and to achieve the ultimate goal that all animals live happy and healthy lives. How to recognize cruelty:
Recognizing cruelty towards animals isn't always as simple as some people think. It can be almost impossible to determine cruelty based on a pet's behavior alone. Here are some signs to help you determine if an animal needs help:
- Collar so tight that it has caused a neck wound or has become embedded in the pet's neck
- Open wounds, signs of multiple healed wounds or an ongoing injury or illness that isn't being treated
- Untreated skin conditions that have caused loss of hair, scaly skin, bumps or rashes
- Extreme thinness or emaciation-bones may be visible
- Fur infested with fleas, ticks or other parasites
- Patches of bumpy, scaly skin rashes
- Signs of inadequate grooming, such as extreme matting of fur, overgrown nails and dirty coat
- Weakness, limping or the inability to stand or walk normally
- Heavy discharge from eyes or nose
- Pets are kept outside in inclement weather without access to adequate shelter
- Pets are kept in an area littered with feces, garbage, broken glass or other objects that could harm them
Each state has different guidelines about how to report animal cruelty and which law enforcement agent you should speak to. For a full listing of the steps to report an incident visit the ASPCA's Reporting Animal Cruelty article for more information. |
