While most people are aware of the new law that requires cars and trucks to remove snow and ice from their vehicles, many commercial drivers and companies are not aware of the stiff fines for trucks. Commercial Vehicles face fines ranging form $500.00 to $1500.00 for incidents where property damage is reported due to ice and snow falling or blowing off a truck.

Billy Bahr
Billy Bahr

 Meet The Employee

Billy Bahr is a dedicated long time employee at Nick's Towing Service, Inc. He came to NTS on January 1, 2000 with many years of experience under his belt. Billy's Father, William Bahr Sr., opened a car lot and towing company in East Rutherford, NJ in 1968 when Bill was 12 years old. He spent every afternoon after school working there and learning. At 17 Billy began towing for his Dad. Working all of those years under his Father's guidance taught him the importance of a good work ethic and always having a silly joke on hand. Not surprisingly Billy's hobbies are antique cars and motorcycles.

When Billy began at NTS, Nick was in need of a heavy bed driver. Containers, machinery, and the like became Billy's specialty. He has a great rapport with his customers and is always polite. His regular customers know that when Billy's on the job it will get done right. Over the years Billy moved into driving a heavy duty wrecker and he has great command in that realm of the towing & transportation business as well. He easily slides between his International flatbed and the Peterbilt wrecker. Billy takes great pride in his job and it shows. He knows the tri state area well, the bonus of seasoned veteran who has spent his adult life on the roads perfecting his game. When asked, Nick says "I've know the Bahr family for 30+ years and Billy is a like his Father, an old school, loyal get it done kind of guy. He has an even, easy going personality and it is a pleasure to have had him as a part of my team for the last 11 years."

Interesting Facts About Groundhogs To Wow Your Friends & Family
  • Groundhogs are a type of marmot. They're in the same family with squirrels, prairie dogs, and chipmunks.
  • Groundhogs and woodchucks are the same thing. They're two different names for the same animal.
  • The legend, which seems to have come to the U.S. with settlers from Germany (and the Germans may have gotten the tradition from Roman conquerors), is that if a groundhog wakes from hibernation, sees its shadow, and returns to its den, there will be six more weeks of winter.
  • They have to keep eating all through Spring & Summer because their teeth don't stop growing throughout their lives. They have to keep chewing to keep their teeth worn down, or else their teeth will get way too big and possibly even kill them.

  • February 2 is what's known as a "cross-quarter" day, which means it's halfway between the winter solstice (the onset of winter) and the vernal equinox in March (the beginning of spring).  So by the calendar, February 2 is the dead middle of winter.

Diesel Fuel Explained - Factors Affecting Diesel Fuel Prices

Why is diesel more expensive than gasoline?

On-highway diesel fuel prices have been higher than regular gasoline prices almost continuously since September 2004, a break from the historical pattern of diesel fuel prices usually being lower than gasoline prices except in cold winters when demand for heating oil pushed diesel fuel prices higher. The main reasons why diesel fuel prices have been higher than gasoline prices in the past few years are:

High worldwide demand for diesel fuel and other distillate fuel oils, especially in Europe, China, India, and the United States, and a tight global refining capacity available to meet demand during the period of high economic growth from 2002 to mid-2008.
The transition to less polluting, lower-sulfur diesel fuels in the United States affected diesel fuel production and distribution costs.

The Federal excise tax for on-highway diesel fuel of 24.4 cents/gallon is 6 cents per gallon higher the gasoline tax.

What are the projected fuel prices for 2011?

The Energy Information Administration's forecast, as of January 11, 2011, for the average retail price of on-highway diesel fuel for 2011 is $3.40per gallon, and the average for 2012 is $3.52 per gallon.
