Make Promotional Items Work for You

You may have seen our e-blast last week announcing the launch of the newest facet to our business! Promotional items go the distance when it comes to advertising your business and generating leads. The right promotional products give your company added marketing value -- and can be a lot of fun, too! They make great giveaways at tradeshows and sponsored events such as golf tournaments, conferences, and marathon races.

 

A study done by the Promotional Products Association International found that 83 percent of consumers polled said they like receiving promotional products, and 38 percent said promotional products serve as a constant reminder of the business advertised. 

 

Here are some tips to help you choose the right promotional items for your company. After all, you want to make sure you have a give-away -- not a throw-away!

Define your audience. You know your target demographic. What would attract, entertain, or be valuable to them? Consider their age, profession, industry, and interests. Then, choose items based on what you know. This ensures potential customers keep your item -- and lets them know your company "gets" them.  

 

Reflect your brand. Choose items that reflect your brand's personality. If your company is traditional and straightforward, pick an item that reflects that. If you are fun and playful, then express it! Choose items and a marketing message that demonstrate your brand clearly and accurately.

 

Quality matters. Avoid obviously cheap or junky giveaways. Items that break or fall apart reflect poorly on your company and aren't any good if they end up in the trash. If your budget is limited, give quality items to fewer people rather than giving shoddy ones to thousands. There are, surprisingly, many cost-concious but high quality items that won't break the bank.
