An Emmy nomination!
I am thrilled to have been nominated again this year for an Emmy Award in the Category of "Oustanding Direction in an Animated Program or Series" for my work on Toot & Puddle (Mercury Filmworks, National Geographic Kids).
My first nomination was for It's a Big Big World (PBS) in 2007.
The Awards ceremony takes place in Los Angeles on June 17. My fingers are crossed that maybe the second time's the charm!
Congratulations to all my fellow nominees. You can see the list for this and all categories at www.daytimeemmys.org Primetime Vacation This pilot season I had the very fun gig of Voice Directing SPYBURBIA, a new test pilot that Cookie Jar is creating for FOX Primetime. SPYBURBIA was created by Stephen de Souza and an American Dad Director, Pete Michels. I have to say that, as much as I love children's television, sometimes it's fun to bust out and use language a little stronger than "Golly" and "Dear me!"
We live in a PDA world - and no, I am not referring to public displays of affection. I am talking about mobile handheld devices that can connect you anytime, anywhere to the web. I know that I can't live without my iPhone, and I use it all the time to go online. That's why I just redesigned my website to be completely mobile-compliant, thanks to the web design team at Q Creative. If you have a moment, please jump on the site and see some of the changes we've made - more streaming video, a new blog, and new pages for On- Camera casting and Commercials. Go ahead - log on from your Blackberry or iPhone - I dare you.
Do what I say, not what I do...... Normally I don't consider it wise to give instruction on something that I can't actually do myself, but this past winter after ten years I relented and agreed to start teaching an Audition Technique class at Broadview Studios. Obviously I don't spend my days auditioning as most professional actors do. However, I figured that after auditioning about a thousand actors a year for the past ten years, I might have a word or two of wisdom to pass on about the process. I've been giving the class for three months now, and the response has been so positive that I think I'll keep going until I have nothing new to say!
