I'm so excited about.....
My New Talent Database!
Over the years I have amassed a huge amount of auditions and demos from so many years of casting. When I wanted to pull them up to send to my clients for paper casting, I would have to remember where to find not ony which actor I needed, but what show they had auditioned for, that would be the correct age, character, etc. Now, with over 50 show folders and over ten years of casting, being able to remember that info off the top of my head was getting increasingly difficult!
But now ....all those headaches are over thanks to my fantastic new TALENT DATABASE! Thanks to the talented Jimmy Benkovic, I now have a beautifully streamlined and organized talent database where I can easily access any MP3 by actor, character type, accent, age, or any number of qualifiers. And, to my surprise, when it was all done we had over ten thousand MP3's! I knew there were going to be a lot - but I had no idea how many. Now I can send you demos for your papercasting needs within minutes of hearing your description of what kind of voice you are looking for. Thanks, Jimmy!
Commercial Cramming
Spring has sprung in the commercial world and we were happy to be a part of it.
After the great success of the commercial I voice directed last year for the wildly popular GOGOS CRAZY BONES www.gogoscrazybones.com (...haven't heard of them? visit a schoolyard anywhere in North America and you will be swiftly educated!), I'm working with Irwin Toys again this month on a new commercial for their upcoming lauch for their new toy, FILLY PRINCESS. Hopefully this dream toy for girls will follow in the GOGOS' footsteps and I will remain as popular with my niece and nephew and their friends as I am now for having been associated with the GOGOS! (it's major cachet with the 12 and under set - trust me).
Also this spring I voice directed a series of spots for the new CANON Digital Powershot Campaign in both French and English.
Speaking of French, french, and more french - in addition to the Canon campaign, I also voice directed a French announcer spot for Astral Media's new French block in Quebec, and did the voice casting for the Family Channel's female French announcer.
Didn't know that I also worked in French? well - let me give you a clue...My married name is Madame D. Giroux!

Last month we wrapped up the voice recording for MR MOON, a new series that I am voice directing with Title Entertainment (www.titleentertainment.com) for TVO and DISNEY UK. This is a sweet preschool series that takes place in outer space - and the young cast (see the picture to the right of this column) has been nothing short of a galactic blast to work with. MR MOON began airing on DISNEY UK last month and it opened to rave reviews and high viewership numbers in England! Can't wait to see it here on TVO in the fall.
And it's hard to believe that we have almost completed dialogue records for JUSTIN TIME, the new animated series I'm voice directing for GURU Productions (www.gurustudio.com) and the Family Channel. JUSTIN TIME is an adventurous romp about a young boy and his two best friends exploring new countries and eras, and, of course, always saving the day. We have had a delightful time working with our exceptional cast - Gage Munroe, Jenna Warren, Scott McCord, Heather Bambrick and Tony Daniels who have brought so much of their talent making our scripts come to life. Directing this ensemble of actors has been a true pleasure for me and the whole team at GURU have been a pleasure to work with.
