And my God shall supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
I know that God's Word is true. He has been faithful in caring for the children of Maison de Enfants des Deiu. We know He will faithfully supply again.
We recently received the news that Haiti passed a law raising the minimum daily wage from 80 Goude per day to 200 Goude per day. That translates to a raise from about $2 per day to $5 per day per worker. Almost all the orphanage personnel are paid at this daily minimum, and we are happy to give them this much needed raise, but what this means for the orphanage is that their monthly payroll expense has gone from about $8,400 per month to about $16,700 per month. That takes Maison's monthly operating budget to just above $33,000 per month. Prior to the mandatory increase in wage costs, the monthly operating budget was about $25,000. This additional $8,300 per month in operational cost is a new, unanticipated cost that we will need to raise funds for above and beyond what we thought we needed in order to support the orphanage and provide the care we have been.
Counting the children who reside at the orphanage and are blessed enough to have a safe place to sleep, three meals a day, loving care and the blessings of their "family" in the orphanage, it works out to an actual monthly child support cost of $325 per month per child.
Please join us in meeting this need. Your support and donations make a life saving difference to the children living in the orphanage.
