Cuba Update

Wow is the best way I know to describe what the Lord did on our trip to Cuba two weeks ago. We had a total of 1,150 people come to Christ as their Savior during the week. The breakdown is as follows: 499 people in Guantanamo, 514 people in Santiago, 92 people in El Caney, 15 people in Placetas, 15 people in Artemisa, 14 people in Havana, and 1 taxi driver in Holguin. I give you these numbers and cities so that you can rejoice and thank the Lord, but also so you can pray for these new converts and the churches that will follow up with them for baptism, discipleship, and church membership.

We also had the wonderful joy of baptizing 99 additional believers over the 7 days of our stay. As I travel the country of Cuba, it is always great for me to get to see people that we have gotten to baptize over the last two years. Two teenagers rushed up to me in Artemisa and hugged my neck as we rejoiced together in the celebration of the day that I baptized them on a previous trip.  It is an incredible joy to be apart of the Cuban people's lives.

We have two trips to Cuba for the remainder of 2010. The two weeks of July 17th-31st are full. However, the trip we have planned for October 30th - November 6th has 12 slots available. This trip will be divided into three teams. One team will be a medical team in the area of Havana. The second team will travel to the eastern end of the island where we will lead worship services, baptize, and do women and children's ministry. The third team will be a horseback team that will go into the mountains to lead worship and train our workers in some of the most remote areas of Cuba. The cost of this trip is approximately $2,000 per person. If you are interested in this trip, please respond via email and I will call you and give you all the info that you will need to make your decision.

Please continue to pray for the work in Cuba. Be sure to pray for our pastors and their families, as they are tenacious in sharing the gospel.

Yours and His,

David Johnson

India Trip

Please be praying for my son Brian and me as we leave for India this Friday. We will be traveling to Calcutta and will use this as our hub. We will be traveling out of Calcutta in all directions to see the work that is going on there. A large part of our time will be spent in the West Bengal area where some of our church planters have been confronted about the sharing of the gospel. Please pray for our safety and for fruit as a result of our efforts. Also, pray for the very courageous men and women around the world who put themselves in harms way every day for the advancement of the name of Jesus.

Be looking for an update from the trip when we return. It is our goal at Doulos to be able to keep you informed about what is happening through our efforts together around the world. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of you who so faithfully support this ministry with your prayers, leadership, and finances. The sacrifices that we are making together are bringing about life-change. May we continue to work together in planting churches so that every man, woman, boy, and girl may hear the gospel and accept Jesus as their Savior.
