Carrie Ragsdale & Document Imaging
In August 2006, Carrie Ragsdale learned of an opportunity to work at Jayhawk File Express from two friends who already worked here. She soon showed an interest in and aptitude for imaging documents and ensuring quality control measures were followed. "I keep tabs on the progress of Scan-on-Demand and back scanning projects," she said. "We need to deliver what the customer wants in the desired format, on time and, hopefully, under budget."
Carrie is an unabashed Bollywood fan. "My sister has a huge collection of the movies, and we've been having movie nights to watch them all!" She is also very involved at her church, serving as a cheerleading coach for pre-school children. "The sports program includes cheerleading so those children who want to be involved but not play football can participate. I have a great time with them."
The love of Carrie's life is Pippin, her Cairn Terrier (think Toto from The Wizard of Oz, but blond). Upon returning from an out-of-town training on imaging software, Pippin pretty much flew off the front porch into her arms, barking excitedly. "The feeling is mutual," Carrie said, smiling. |

Paper-based data breaches on the rise
More than one quarter of data breaches in 2009 involved consumer records that were jeopardized when organizations lost control over sensitive paper documents. Experts say those incidents came to light in large part due to a proliferation of state data breach notification laws, yet current federal proposals to preempt those state measures would allow paper-based breaches to go unreported.
According to the Identity Theft Resource Center, a San Diego based nonprofit, at least 27 percent of the data breaches disclosed publicly in 2009 stemmed from collections of sensitive consumer information printed on paper that was lost, stolen, inadvertently distributed or improperly disposed of.
Jayhawk File Express is AAA Certified by the National Association for Information Destruction, and follows its strict protocol: supplying lockable containers for customers to store documents to be destroyed; sending bonded and background checked couriers to pick up the material on the customer's prescribed schedule; keeping locked shred barrels in locked vehicles until they are secured inside the plant; and loading bales of shred paper into locked trailers, then transporting to a pulping mill. |

Business Continuity |
|
Disaster recovery and business continuity planning fall under the disaster preparedness umbrella. A disaster recovery plan is a written and approved course of action to take after a disaster strikes that details how an organization will restore critical business functions and reclaim damaged or threatened records.
Business continuity is an organization's ability to continue to operate in the event of a disaster or disruption. Regardless of the event, the disaster recovery plan serves as a starting point to mitigate risks, minimize loss, and resume business operations as efficiently as possible.
Jayhawk File Express can be the heart of your disaster recovery plan. Our vault storage of backup tapes can serve as day-to-day security and, in the event of a breakdown of your computer system, JFE can deliver your tapes, disks and/or drives within a two hour window regardless of the day or time. |

Hard Drive Destruction |
|
|
100% Guarantee
A recent report on National Public Radio suggested that the only way to ensure that information on your old computer hard drive never gets into the hands of people able to steal it ... is to run over the drive with a truck!
Albeit tongue-in-cheek, the reporter compared several sanitation software programs that claim to clean computer hard drives; his conclusion was that physical destruction is the only guarantee. Jayhawk File Express completely destroys hard drives and recycles the parts. Call for details. |

House Passes Bill Before Holiday Recess On December 8, 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Data Accountability and Trust Act (H.R. 2221) via voice vote. The measure has been sent to the Senate for consideration.
The Bill was sponsored by Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL), who said: "Bill H.R. 2221 addresses data breaches by requiring 'for-profit' entities holding data containing people's personal information to have reasonable and appropriate security measures in place to protect that data. H.R. 2221 would also require them to notify consumers, who are U.S. citizens or residents, and the Federal Trade Commission when a breach occurs. Read more... |

Keeping Your Information Safe |
|
| No Faxes of Confidential Information
The security of your information continues to be our number one priority. Because many fax machines have uncontrolled access within an office, Jayhawk File Express has made the decision to not send confidential information via fax. Information transfer will be through encrypted email or via our secure website. Information can also be hand-delivered by our courier staff or mailed.
We believe these alternative means of data transfer offer more secure means of information delivery and eliminate the opportunity for documents to be viewed by unauthorized individuals. We appreciate your cooperation. | |
