Dispatcher Coordinates Deliveries
 It's been seven years since Tobin McDaniel began his career at Jayhawk File Express. A senior member of our operations team who has been involved in all aspects of customer service, he is reponsible for dispatching staff to fulfill workorders.
"My job entails finding everything for all of our customers. I schedule routes and work with the customer to make things as easy as possible when storing boxes, files or tapes with us. I like to consider the Dispatcher position as the Hub that everything else works off of," Tobin explained.
If a customer needs a file "STAT," Tobin locates the driver, sends the notice to a warehouse tech's scanner, and makes sure the file is delivered within the two hour time frame. A lover of all things "Rock Chalk," Tobin enjoys taking his sons to the games and teaching the fine art of tailgating. "My whole family goes to the games," he said. "I was about five when I went to my first KU game; I've had season tickets for 15 years." He also enjoys golf and playing softball.

Dumpster Diving is Legal
Where are YOUR cancelled checks?  Acting on a tip that a local man was dealing in illegal narcotics, the police searched trash bags put out on his curb. Based on evidence from the garbage and a subsequent search, the man was convicted of drug-related charges. He appealed to the Supreme Court, claiming that the search of his garbage was warrantless and therefore illegal. The Supreme Court upheld the search, claiming that the bags of trash left on the side of the street were open to inspection by "animals, children, scavengers, snoops, and other members of the public." (California v. Greenwood 6-2 U.S. Supreme Court Decision, May 16, 1988)
Anything with your personal information printed on it, including unsolicited credit card applications and copies of paid bills, should be securely shred before disposal. Businesses are required by the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) to carefully dispose of anything containing customer's credit information

Congress Looks to Tighten Rules
Two separate bills have been proposed in the U.S. Senate that will regulate how organizations protect personal information.
The Data Breach Notification Act and the Personal Data Privacy and Security Act authorize civil and criminal penalties for identity theft and the failure of both private and public sector organizations to notify persons affected by a security breach.
