Nancy Vaughn -- "May I help you?"
The voice on the phone since 2001, Nancy Vaughn is in the unique position of having watched the company grow. "We expanded from only storing confidential material, then added shredding services, and now imaging and digital storage of images," she said.
"It's been fun to watch Jayhawk File Express provide Topeka and surrounding areas with the very best storage, shredding and imaging services possible. It is a company that truly cares about their customers and we definitely want to keep your files and documents secure and safe."
As lead receptionist and customer service liasion for those who visit the office, Nancy has talked to just about every customer. "When I came to Jayhawk File Express, there were six employees, and we all were involved at every level of service. There are now 25 full time employees and I believe that our growth is the result of great leadership." Nancy notes that of the original six, she is the only one that still maintains a desk at Jayhawk File Express.
Nancy is a dedicated scrapbooker, loves to travel with husband Dale, and practically drove straight into the 1966 tornado. "I saw it coming over Burnett's Mound and took refuge in the first house I came too," she said with a laugh.

A records retention schedule ensures that an organization keeps the records it needs for operational, legal, fiscal or historical reasons, and then destroys them when they're no longer useful. You may base your records retention schedule on your own experience and research of legal mandates or on what other companies are doing.
Whatever your method, use your retention schedule as a guide, not as an executioner. Retain records longer if litigation, a government investigation or an audit seems likely. In the event that a legal action does transpire, immediately cease all disposal activities.
You have to know what you have and how long to keep it--legally and for your own business purposes--before you can establish an efficient records management system. | Red Flags Rule Enforcement Delayed Until 2010
The Federal Trade Commission issued an announcement on October 30, 2009 that it will again suspend enforcement of the new "Red Flags Rule" for the fourth time.... this time until June 1st, 2010 to give creditors subject to FTC jurisdiction additional time in which to develop and implement written identity theft prevention programs. Today's announcement focused on small businesses and their need to understand the requirements of the rules.
