Community Action Agencies Help Struggling Families After Severe Storms Hit Ohio
When severe storms hit Ohio on June 29, it left hundreds of thousands of Ohioans without power, causing many low-income families to struggle to survive. Community Action Agencies throughout the state stepped in to offer assistance with anything from generators to help paying for prescription medication, food and other necessities. OACAA Launches Ohio VETS Program to Aid Low-Income Veterans

OACAA has launched the Ohio Vocation, Education, Training & Services (Ohio VETS) program at six pilot Community Action Agencies in Ohio to aid veterans at 200 percent of the federal poverty level and below.

Tri-County Community Action CLS Has Groundbreaking for New Transportation and Maintenance Facility
On June 28, Tri-County Community Action of Champaign, Logan a nd Shelby Counties broke ground on a new transportation and maintenance facility in Bellefontaine, Ohio for their Transportation for Logan County (TLC) program. The new facility will provide an area for maintenance of the agencies fleet and provide administrative offices for the transportation program.

Ironton-Lawrence CAO Hosts Ribbon Cutting for New Medical Center

On July 8, the Ironton-Lawrence Community Action Organization hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of the new St. Mary's Medical Center in Ironton. The medical center, which was a collaborative effort between ILCAO and St. Mary's of Huntington, WV, will bring much needed hospital services to the area.
