Turn your ANTS into PETS
A funny Story! Quote of the Month

Go for it!

Greetings!

How is your year going? The last couple of month's I've focused these newsletters on self-

care and I know you are now feeling fabulous and ready to take on anything. Right?

So, you have a brilliant new dream or goal, you have made some plans and designed some

action steps, then KAPOW! up they come, out of the woodwork, the old, dreary, boring and

"get out of my life once and for all" F.E.A.R.S. What can you do about them? Read on, I'm

going to give you my top tip! All you need to do is practice it... Easy Peasy!

I'm still in Sydney, having fun, catching up, making plans and putting together a fab

new website, and getting excited about a a couple of new courses. I'll keep  you

posted.

  TURN YOUR ANTS INTO PETS!

Your ANTS are your Automatic Negative Thoughts and your PETS are your Positive

Empowering Thoughts. It's up to you which ones you believe, right? They are both

absolutely right if you believe them. Let me give an example using the desire to lose weight.

ANT = I've tried this before, it is pointless even starting

PET = I have information, resources and a great support network that will help me stay

on track.  (if you don't - get onto it!)

ANT = What if I fall "off the wagon" again?

PETS = I have new skills and information, so won't be too upset if I stumble once or twice,

             I really want this.No excuses.

Just two very simple examples of how an ANT can be turned into a PET and I'm sure

you get the idea. Get your own ANTS down on paper and start your own PET farm!

Take some time over the next few days to look at something you would love to achieve

in the next 30 days. Where are you getting in your own way and self sabotaging even your

best efforts? What could you do that would put that big grin on your face? Who would you

need to be to do this? Take your self seriously and go for it. You're more than good enough!

Are you - spending too much time on the Internet?

Are you - creating even more "busy work"?

Are you - second guessing your best ideas?

Are you - waiting for perfection?

My challenge this month is for you to get off your delectable derriere, get into action and

COMPLETE 1 thing that you have been putting off. Just 1 thing, will you do that?

I give you permission right now to settle for excellence - leave perfection to the gunnas!

Another piece about fear. It's just a word. We made it up. You could use excitement for the same feelings, the only difference is in the mindset, the energy is almost the same. Next time you feel fear, take it to pieces, be like a CSI forensic scientist and explore it, deeply. What does this fear 'give' you. Is it attention? a place to hide? or maybe it's a good way of playing small. Be curious, step outside of yourself.

Whatever it is, you are the only one who can face it. Obviously I am not speaking about dangerous situations here. I am speaking about self-imposed fears that have manifested organically. Is it possible you don't have this fear anymore and you have moved on and you are simply operating on default mode?

A funny story - I ride a mountain bike and always wanted to try a road bike so eventually bought one. As I was getting used to it I realized that it was much faster than my MTB and the narrow wheels didn't give me the security I felt on the MTB - consequently I was terrified to go down big hills (love it on the MTB) then one day I was doddering down the hill and a rider went past me - well I am really competitive so I took off like a rocket and caught her on the uphill section and just kept going. My partner was waiting for me at the crossroad and I went flying past as he stood gawking at me - he couldn't catch me of course 'cos he had to actually get on his bike and I was gone! and when we eventually got home he said "I thought you were terrified of that downhill" I said yeh! I forgot! and we laughed. If you learn to love what you fear, it helps! In my case my competitive edge took over and I forgot to be scared. I know that is just a silly example and I have gotten over some fears that were truly debilitating so I do know the difference.

For years I allowed debilitating fears to rule my life and I know for a fact that the only way to 'get over them' is to face them head on - do whatever it is you fear - then get on with  your life. Believe me, the agony of doing that isn't a patch on a lifetime of stopping yourself from being the person you can be; doing what you are capable of and standing in your power. It's like someone turning on the lights for the first time.

You may need to create an accountability game or ask your coach or a buddy to keep you accountable. Heck I don't care what you use. Whatever you need to do I urge you to do it. It's all in the doing!  I want to see my inbox inundated with emails of your wins! Be sure to keep me posted.

To sweeten the pot I would like to give you something that will  help you recognize your strengths and prove to you that you really have what it takes. Here is the link..

Hi, this is Joan again. Often in our lives we just want someone to talk to, someone who will listen, help us sort out our "stuff" and help us get clarity and focus on our next move. There are also times when we are 'on fire", focused and on track and we need someone to hold us accountable, brainstorm with us and generally be there for us when we stumble or when we have a big win.

These are just 2 scenarios of when you may want the support of a coach. There are many more. Whatever your situation I would be happy to offer you a FREE introductory session to see if coaching is a valid option for you at this time. No pressure and no obligation of course.

Have a brilliant month turning your ants into pets....... Joan
