I had just opened a word document and was wondering what on earth I would write about for this Newsletter. My partner Geoffrey called out to me to "Come and have a look at this". He was looking up into the sky.
We stood and watched a beautiful mother hawk teaching her fledgling how to fly. It was beautiful and funny to watch. The mother gliding beautifully on the updraft and the fledgling madly flapping it's' wings trying to get the hang of this new thing called flying.
It made me think that many of us approach challenges in the same way as this fledgling. We 'flap our wings' and dart here and there; never stopping long enough to focus or see if we are even heading in the right direction. Or is that just me?
Imagine if, instead, that we took a little time to think, plan, choose, create, decide on the best use of our energy for optimal results. Do you think that we could achieve more, more often? Do you believe that with a little time spent really going deep and thinking about what we really want for ourselves and then designing a Game Plan and executing it that we would be higher achievers, bigger thinkers, more productive doers?
Coaches Challenge this month is for you to take some time to make a list of at least 3 things you would like to achieve for yourself this year. Then ask yourself WHY you want this, and keep asking Why until you get to the real thing that you want (it will make more sense when you do this exercise) and when you are absolutely clear about your goal start looking for the "updraft" in your life, then simply spread your wings and soar, just like the mother hawk, sure and steady - and if you are really lucky you may be able to guide someone else one day.
Note: The 'updraft' for you may be a course, a person, a coach, a plane ticket; whatever will take you to that next level and be a catalyst for your success. It's that one defining moment when you "commit" to being, doing or having whatever will make your heart sing and to keep on doing this until every area in your life melds together to give you your idea of a "perfect life"
