| LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT | |
Dear Members and Friends,
PSWIFT members are buzzing around getting ready for the Broken Glass Awards. To date, we have over 25 volunteers/ committee members involved in making this the most exciting, most entertaining and most fun gala we've produced. As our only fundraiser of the year, I'm hoping every one of you make a reservation and support our efforts to provide creative arts scholarships to worthy students and keep the BookPALS program thriving at our Valley schools. But don't hesitate. We have limited seating and we've already sold over half of our tables. Come mingle with this year's Oscar nominated director Jennifer Yuh Nelson. Get up close with Golden Globe winner Raquel Welch and Oscar winner Shirley Jones. So many more surprises that I can't reveal! But trust me - it's going to be a very special evening.
Glam it up, Coachella Valley.
See you on the Red Carpet March 2nd.

SUNDAY with... MITCH BLUMBERG - Jan. 8, 2012 - WRAP UP | |
Sunday, January 8th with Mitch Blumberg was a delight. We all gathered at his beautiful home at PGA West against a backdrop of rocky mountains (so close you could almost touch them) and roses. Mitch regaled us with stories of his years in Texas and LA as an independent producer and studio executive.
His anecdotes about getting either financing or stars for independent features were enlightening and fun. As a studio exec, the number of submitted scripts vs. the tiny sum of films that will get made is staggering... and the constant fear that somewhere in those thousands of unmade films is another "Citizen Kane." As an independent producer, bottom line: Put your ego aside - keep yourself visible, and approach anyone you can use or who may need what you're pitching. Discouragement isn't an option. AND, keep your sense of humor.
We are all so lucky to have Mitch here and on our Board of Directors. |
