LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Sherry Halperin

Dear Members and Friends,

The candles were lit, the fruit cakes eaten.  Presents were exchanged and Egg Nogs downed.  New Years kisses were planted and resolutions made.  What a month.

I think we all should resolve to keep PSWIFT's mission alive and moving forward - a mission of mentoring and educating those in the arts.  We're a band of creative women (and secure men) who relish in being with like souls.  So come to our events, network with members and learn from our speakers.

Which brings me to Jan. 28th.   How fortunate are we to have Amy Schiffman coming to town.  As a literary manager, she marches intellectual properties through the maze of producers and studios and gets films and television shows in theatres and on air.  I'm sure we'll learn a lot from this amazing woman.

Make sure you mark your calendar (March 2nd) to attend the BGA's.  This gala is our one and only fund raiser and I hope (and expect) all members and friends of PSWIFT to attend and support what I know will be a night to remember.  Our honorees are confirmed, entertainment secured, menu approved.   Now all we need is for you to step up and join us on the red carpet.

Call the office for ad possibilities.  The book is being created as I type.  This will definitely be a sell out event, so get your ads and reservations in early.

Happy New Year.  I wish the best for us all.

    Sherry

TERE BRITTON - BookPALS

Tere B"A Heartfelt Thanks to PSWIFT Members"

Once again the members of PSWIFT have shown that members helping members has made this such a vibrant and strong organization. The donations of books at our Holiday Mixer on December 13, and the donations to help the efforts of Coachella Valley BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools) has enabled me to fill some more holiday stockings this year.

Equally important is your moral support and encouragement that has helped me to weather some challenging times with BookPALS and to continue its vital mission of bringing books to the children who otherwise would not have any.

Thank you, also, to the awesome PSWIFT board members and the 25 members who are BookPALS readers.

Lastly, I would like to share the following about the importance of our mission.

"A love of books and reading is one of the most precious important gifts anyone can give a child. Reading encourages imagination, builds understanding, opens up new worlds and helps children reach their full potential.

When you read to a child, it is the best way to teach them the joy of reading, and it is also a special way to build relationships, encourage conversation and have fun together

Children reap the benefit for the rest of their lives!"
