LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Sherry HalperinDear Members and Friends of PSWIFT,

We did it!!!!   We've surpassed the 200 mark for membership.   For all of you who joined at our Oct. luncheon, you have a great year ahead of you.  Thanks for becoming a member.

Jim Frawley - you are a fabulous speaker.  Yes, your career and information was fascinating - but your heartfelt words of encouragement and love is what we will always cherish.  Thank you, Jim.

I have a problem - there aren't enough weeks or months in the year to do all the programs we'd like to present.   Amazing people have stepped forward offering their expertise and desire to be part of our group.  Trust me, you have some fabulous lectures and gatherings coming up.

So let's segue to our next event - our educational seminar Nov. 9th.   Why is this important to each and every one of you?   If you weren't interested in the arts, you wouldn't be part of PSWIFT.   I'm constantly asked - how do I get an acting or V.O. job without going to L.A.?   If I want to shoot a film here in town, are there any hotels or caterers or stores or cities that will give me incentives?  How do I pull a permit?   How do I find a crew?  What are the advantages of shooting in Palm Desert over Pasadena?  How do I become an editor or a script supervisor?

We have some answers.  Our team has been working diligently and will present a fascinating panel to you on Nov. 9th.   Every one of you need to take part in this fact finding and solution offering seminar.

    See you soon.

                                                 Best,

                                                      Sherry

Patrick Evans

PATRICK EVANS joined KPSP as one of 72 original employees, and has been a reporter, anchor, and now Chief Meteorologist for the station since its debut in September of 2002.

Patrick came to California after a decade of work for WDBJ Television in Roanoke, VA. Hired in 2000 as the Chief Meteorologist for the Orange County News channel in Santa Ana, he spent two years in "the O.C." living in Laguna Beach. His television career now spans more than 20 years, as he started working in TV at the tender age of 17. Patrick hails from Charlottesville, VA, home to the University of Virginia (his alma mater); his family still lives there.

While at work, Patrick delivers the forecast at 5, 6 and 11pm. He can be seen at various community events serving as Emcee, and on very rare occasions you might even catch him on the sports desk! Patrick has covered stories all over the country, and has gone as far as Peru on assignment.

When not at work, he is often spotted crooning Sinatra tunes with local musicians around the Valley. He lives in Rancho Mirage, and enjoys the Valley's many golf courses as often as he can... Always checking out the weather, of course.

.TERE BRITTON - BookPALS

Tere BDear PSWIFT Members,

Your support of Coachella Valley BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools) has kept it going.  Your recent contribution check for $1,835.00, representing the BGA Gala and members contributions, will go a long way in helping us meet our expenses.

While the money is clearly vital for the program, it is your personal support that sustains and motivates me.  Without your encouragement and pats on the back, I'm not sure we could continue.

Please accept my deep heartfelt thanks.

Tere Britton
