OCTOBER  2011 Newsletter

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Sherry HalperinDear Members and Friends of PSWIFT,

What a fabulous mixer we had on Sept. 13th at Pacifica. Not only was the food and drink great (thank you, Mitch Epstein), but seventeen lovely people joined our group.   So, welcome new members.   I'm sure you'll have a fun and educational year.

We were all saddened by the passing of our beloved Platinum PSWIFT member, Jackie Lee Houston.   She was such a good friend of our organization - as she was to philanthropic groups throughout the Valley. In her honor, we have established The Jackie Lee Houston Scholarship which will be given to a female student for studies in the creative arts. And, of course, we will continue to award The Jackie Lee Houston Humanitarian Award at our yearly Broken Glass gala. Our love and condolences go out to the entire Houston family.

On a happier note, please mark your calendars for Oct. 15th.   While luncheon information is included in this newsletter, I would just like to mention that our speaker, Jim Frawley, is a man with a million tales to be told.   He's directed so many important and entertaining series as well as film.   So come ready to learn and laugh with this fascinating man.

A very Happy Rosh Hashana and joyous Yom Kippur to all of our Jewish friends.

                                                   See you at lunch!

                                                   Sherry Halperin
