LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Sherry Halperin
Dear Members and Friends of PSWIFT,
The summer is in full swing in the desert and your board is busy planning an exciting upcoming season. As members have requested, we'll have some luncheons and functions in Palm Springs as well as our lovely standby, The La Quinta Resort. So far, we've wrangled a famous network newscaster/ a Hollywood producer and a major television star as luncheon speakers. More exciting personalities to come.
Our free Sunday speaker series will continue next season. To date, the lineup includes radio personality Jacqueline Bachar, Producer Kim Waltrip and Inland Empire Film Commissioner Sheri Davis.
So make sure your dues are paid up and get your calendar ready for an exciting 2010/2011 season.
We will be releasing dates of all our functions in Sept. so you can be sure to save important dates.
Keep cool and be happy.
Sherry
ps: Members: Don't forget to keep us informed on your industry related news. We will be putting out bulletins throughout the summer.

NETFLIX -- If you subscribe to Netflix, add "Shoot the Hero" and "Adopt A Sailor" to your list. | | FACEBOOK -- If you have a facebook account, become a fan of "Shoot the Hero" and "Adopt A Sailor".
"Adopt a Sailor" Produced by Kim Waltrip and Sherry Halperin
Patricia (Bebe Neuwirth) and Richard (Peter Coyote), a well-to-do, constantly bickering couple, have forgotten that they volunteered to host a sailor for one night during New York City's Fleet Week, and when the young man (Ethan Peck) arrives, their world is turned upside down. Naïve and sweet, the sailor is awed by his intellectual hosts but soon questions their anger and verbal cruelty toward each other, making them look at themselves anew.
"Shoot the Hero" Produced by Denise DuBarry Hay
While browsing in a jewelry store, lovebirds Nate (Jason Mewes) and Kate (Samantha Lockwood) get caught up in a robbery that goes wrong and soon become targets of a mobster who wants to ice all witnesses to the botched crime. With a hit man hot on their trail, Nate and Kate -- much to their surprise -- discover talents neither knew they possessed. Danny Trejo and Nicholas Turturro also star in this action-packed caper directed by Christian Sesma.

SUPPORT PSWIFT & BOOKPALS |
|

Our membership chairperson and BookPALS coordinator, Tere Britton, has found a way to help support the BookPALS program.
If you're thinking of selling some gold jewelry, go to Out of the Box Gold Store. The store will donate 10% of your take (from THEIR profit) to your favorite charity.
Please name PSWIFT for BookPALS as your charity. The number is 760-836-9247 and they are located on the frontage road next to Tony Roma's in Palm Desert. If the pieces have stones, they will gladly remove them.
PSWIFT has committed to help fund BookPALS and this is a win win situation for all.
BookPALS is founded on a clear premise: Children must be exposed to the magic of books to develop a love of reading. Who better to make that magic come alive than actors, gifted in the art of storytelling?
Our volunteer actors read aloud to at-risk children grades 1-5 at local public schools. Help us stamp out illiteracy in the Coachella Valley!
PSWIFT and its members are proud supporters of the BookPALS Literacy Program.
Please go to our website (under Events)
to make your TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to keep this valuable program going. | |
