Sherry Halperin                          LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear PSWIFT Members,

I'm honored that our board has asked me to step in and finish Diane Alstrom's term as President.  Diane, I wish you health and happiness.  I strongly believe that this wonderful organization is here to mentor, guide, entertain, educate and befriend those actively working in the creative fields of television and film and those wishing to be a part of these industries.   That's why I have initiated a free monthly mentoring Sunday session.   Since these will be held at member's homes, we are limited to no more than 12 - 15 guests per session.   So, sign up early and learn from our members.

An organization is only as good as its board and members.   We are blessed to have an active board with each member signing up for a responsibility.   And our members - you are the best.  Your enthusiasm, your help and volunteerism is to be admired.   So, that being said, I ask all of you for suggestions on how to make PSWIFT the best chapter in the country.   We're relatively small, but powerful.

PSWIFT has done so much for me.  It's my turn to give back and help this amazing group of women and secure men become the stepping stone, the home, the inspiration and the resource for all of you.

                                                                  Best,

                                                                 Sherry Halperin, President

P.S.   Curtseys are not necessary.   A small bow when you grace my presence is surely enough!

CSI made CBS the most watched television station in America. Everyone knows the cast, but it's the people behind the scenes who have kept this show #1 for NINE seasons.

RICHARD J. LEWIS saw the CSI pilot and told his agent, "We've got to get this show!"... He was hired to direct the fourth episode, then another... and by the second season was the in-house director.  He was producing in the third season,  and soon executive producing.

We are honored to have Richard as our guest speaker.

We know we are in for an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the most unique crime show on TV, and the journey Richard took to arrive at this place, producing one of the most successful franchises in television history, in a time when network television has had to battle cable networks and the internet to achieve ratings.

Among the topics Richard will cover:

1    With so many producers on a show, how is the division of responsibilities decided?

2    Is there any creative flexibility as a director coming on an already developed episodic show?

3    Becoming a director is one of the most difficult television or film challenges.   How did he achieve this?

4    What advice can he give PSWIFT members who want to produce/direct network episodic television?

What's the best road to take.

You won't want to miss this opportunity!
