Going Green!Go Green

As the weather gets warmer, it's a great time to focus on helping the environment.  Every little bit helps!  Check out these environmental friendly tips:
  • TVs, computers, and DVD players draw stand-by power even when you think they are off.  Unplug them to save up to 10% energy and on your electric bill.  You can plug lots of gear into one power strip and shut it off with one switch.
  • Boil water up to 75% faster and save energy by using a lid so the heat doesn't escape.
  • Use a toaster oven for small jobs. It will use a third as much as energy as a full-size oven.
  • Turn the oven off 10 to 15 minutes before cooking time runs out; food will continue to cook without using the extra electricity.
  • Install a motion sensor on lights in stairwells or on dark landings where light is needed only when passing through.
  • Switch out your curtains.  White curtains in summer reflect heat  In winter, dark heavy curtains help warm rooms and let you lower your thermostat.
  • Arrange furniture to take advantage of natural light from windows. Place desks and reading chairs next to windows to cut down on the need and use of supplemental, artificial light during the day.

Walk to Work Week: June 4th - June 10th

Mark your calendars!  June 4th - June 10th is Sheboygan County's Bike and Walk to Work Week... or to your Chiropractic appointment!  Not only is walking or biking good for the environment, it's great for your health.  Bike, walk, or even run to your appointment that week and you'll receive a free icepack!

Exercise at Any Age!

Exercising releases endorphins which are known to produce happy thoughts and outlook. No matter what the age that exercise is started, it will benefit more than just body health. A new study was conducted on women who were 66 years of age or older, and who recently started to exercise a small amount.  It showed that these women, who did as little as walk less than a mile a day greatly decreased their risk of death through diseases.  In addition, the risk of heart problems dropped nearly 30 percent. This shows how even the smallest amount of exercise can help improve health at any age.

Eat Local!farmers market

Check out this website www.localharvest.org to find local farmers' markets, farms, and certified supported agriculture groups to join.  Fresh tastes best! Because community farmers don't have to worry about long-haul transport and want your repeat business, they'll often wait until produce is lip-smackin' ripe and have the most nutrients before they harvest it.

Patient Testimonial
"I suffered from sciatic and lower back pain.  Numerous times over the past 10 years I have hurt myself or just had a bad ache somewhere.  After seeing Dr. Cindy regularly, when I did get hurt I recovered quickly.  I work in a salon and I stand most of the day.  Life is a lot less painful and I move much better thanks to Chiropractic care!  My suggestion is keep getting adjusted and do the exercises that Dr. Cindy suggests.  It works amazingly!"
