June 20
Color Correction in Final Cut Pro X

Greetings!
BIG NEWS!
Larry Jordan

Autodesk Smoke 2013 released its long-anticipated beta - and we have training! In cooperation with the Smoke team at Autodesk, I've created a six-part video training series designed to get you started with the Free Trial version of Smoke 2013.

Smoke 2013 was completely retooled to make it more accessible to Final Cut, Avid, and Premiere editors.  And these six movies will get you past the initial hurdles and ready for exploring the application on your own.

Before you download the free trial, watch this training. As I was learning Smoke, I was completely stumped in several places. Thanks to the folks at Autodesk, we worked out the answers and put them into this "Getting Started" training.

Subscribers - click here. These movies are now part of your membership - at NO additional charge! If you want to download the complete set, click here.

Smoke is amazing - but not intuitive. This training will help get you started right.  (To learn more about Smoke 2013, read my First Look article, below.)

Ta-DAH!!

With the release of our Smoke training, we now have more than 400 movies in our online video training membership! Pretty darn amazing!  Sign up today!!

LARRY'S WRITING ANOTHER BOOK

Thinking of cool tips, I'm writing another book - this one filled with tips and shortcuts covering Adobe's latest video products.

If you have a favorite tip, shortcut, or technique to share - email me. I'll put it in the book and give you credit.

I'm looking for favorite keyboard shortcuts, hidden places to click, special menus, or any procedure that saves time or improves quality that can be detailed in five steps or less.

There's no money in it - just immortal fame...!

NEW WEBINARS

We have a great webinar coming up this Wednesday on reading video scopes and color correction in Final Cut Pro X.

Register for your seat today - and remember, if you are a subscriber, you can attend any of our weekly live webinars free!

NEW ARTICLES THIS WEEK

Lots of good stuff this week - two new blogs, and two new articles -- including a First Look at the Pre-Release Trial of Smoke 2013.  As usual, you'll find all the details below.

FIRST LOOK: AUTODESK SMOKE 2013
Getting Started

BLOG: COMMENTARY
The MacPro at WWDC
Logo: Larry's Blog
This week's keynote at WWDC announced a lot of new portables with some killer features.

But the MacPro wasn't mentioned - except in Apple's store where it was listed as new.  Except, lots of people took exception to that, saying it wasn't new. So, the next day, Apple removed the "New" flag from the store entry. Then, Tim Cook sent an email saying that the MacPro would have a significant update in 2013.

TECHNIQUE: FINAL CUT PRO X
Using the Precision Editor

The Precision Editor is new with Final Cut Pro X.

Here's an article that explains what it is, why you use it, and provides a variety of keyboard shortcuts that allow you to use it faster.

TECHNIQUE: FINAL CUT PRO 7 AND X
Multicam Tip

I've gotten a lot of email about this question. So, I wrote up the answer.

Whether you use multicam inside Final Cut Pro 7 or Final Cut Pro X, here's a tip that can save you time trying to get a multicam clip to do what it isn't designed to do.
