"Random Acts of Kindness Day"
Wednesday, August 22nd
Governor Nathan Deal, along with 11 Alive News, has declared August 22nd as an official "Random Acts of Kindness Day," encouraging all to conduct an act of kindness, great or small, for someone else. At Nickajack Elementary, we promote kindness every day by encouraging our students to perform random acts of kindness for others or observe others doing so and record these actions to add to our ever growing kindness chain. Last year, Nickajack proudly contributed a chain of kindness with over 10,000 links to 11 Alive's Kindness Rally at the Georgia Dome. As a kick-off for kindness at Nickajack this school year, we invite parents and students to participate in this very special "Random Acts of Kindness Day" by demonstrating a specific act of kindness and compassion towards a friend, relative, teacher, co-worker, or even someone you do not know. Please refer to the following link for more specific information about this event and to download kindness cards: 11Alive Random Acts of Kindness Day. A limited supply of cards will also be available in the school's front lobby next week. In our continued effort to promote a climate of kindness and compassion at Nickajack, PTA will again offer a Kindness and Compassion Club after school. Look for registration details in the next Beat or contact Katy Weihe with any questions. |

Car Riders - PLEASE READ!
We are trying as best as we can to get your children to you and you on your way as safely and as quickly as possible. You can help us expedite the process. Please note the following:
1) Please pull up as far as you can...car rider monitors are waving you forward in order to let others out of the line.
2) Please help your child(ren) learn their car rider number and stress to them the importance of listening for their number when they are being called.
3) Please, for you and your child's safety, do not get out of your car. Your child will need to enter from the right side of your car.
Walking in to pick up your child? Bring in your car pool window sticker, walk to the cafeteria and sign them out. There is longer a need to log them out on the computer. If you cannot remove your car pool sticker go to the office for a slip and hold on to it for the remainder of the year.
REMEMBER you can no longer pick up children after 1:30 pm, including for doctor appointments. This will eliminate disruption at the end of the day, please plan accordingly.
