NELLCO SYMPOSIUM 2012
I'm happy to report that earlybird registration is now open for the NELLCO Symposium 2012: Content, Collaboration, Curation, Innovation. This first-ever event will be held March 12-13 at the Albany Law School in Albany, NY, home to the NELLCO offices. You can visit the conference website for all of the details and registration information. Earlybird rates are in effect through 1/31/2012.
We're very excited about the Symposium and we've been working hard to put together a two-day conference that we know will provide you with unparalleled, high-quality professional development content and opportunities for networking and learning. We hope that this will lay the foundation for an annual event that will draw law librarians to Albany each year.
The Symposium will consist of two components. Day one will provide a focus on legal information resources (Content) through a series of classroom sessions led by our Industry Partners. These sessions are aimed at providing time for question and answer periods, product information exchange, new features and functions demonstrations, or product training. To date, the following providers have registered to participate:
- ALM
- Berkeley Electronic Press
- Digital Library Systems Group
- EBSCO
- Fastcase
- Gale/Cengage
- Leadership Directories
- Oxford University Press
- Thomson Reuters
- YBP
We hope to reach 50 by conference time. Please encourage your vendor reps to participate!
Also on day one, the NELLCO Interest Groups (IG) will hold meetings on site (Collaboration). The three groups that will be meeting during day one are: Reference; Acquisitions and Collection Development; Interlibrary Loan. While these groups usually meet for a full day at various times throughout the year, the Symposium will offer the groups an opportunity to seek broader participation from across the NELLCO membership. The leaders of each group are organizing the IG agendas, and the groups will be considering the future direction of the IGs.
Day two will feature a series of skillbuilding sessions, aimed at filling the knowledge gaps identified by a survey we ran earlier this year. Sessions will include task/time management, marketing, communication skills, reverse strategic planning and more. Please see the rest of this issue and January's issue for more on the sessions.
We can't make this a success without you! Please forward this information to anyone who may be interested in attending. The Symposium is open to NELLCO members and to non-member law librarians. Register today and plan to join us in Albany!
Oh, and Happy Holidays!
Yours In Collaboration,
Tracy L. Thompson-Przylucki
