Monet at the Grand Palais
The famed Impressionist artist Claude Monet is the talk of the town in Paris. The Grand Palais is currently hosting the most important retrospective of the artist's work in over thirty years. Claude Monet (1840-1926) features close to 200 works presented in thematic and chronological lines, from the 1860s to the celebrated Water Lily series at the end of his career. In addition to renowned paintings, the exhibit includes rarely-seen pieces on loan from private collections. And the exhibit splendidly portrays the creative spirit and versatility of an artist who embodied the Impressionist movement of the late 19th century and laid the foundation for modern art in the early 20th century. The exhibit runs through January 24, 2011.
