Quote of the Week
Be happy. Talk happiness. Happiness calls out responsive gladness in others. There is enough sadness in the world without yoursðnever doubt the excellence and permanence of what is yet to be. Join the great company of those who make the barren places of life fruitful with kindness. Your success and happiness lie in you. The great enduring realities are love and service. Resolve to keep happy and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.

Russian Prime Minister
Vladimir Putin approved a campaign to reduce Russians' alcohol consumption by more than half in the next ten years. Putin approved a series of government steps to tackle the "national threat" of Russia's addiction to alcohol. This will include restrictions on alcohol sales and production, higher taxation and curbs on advertising.
The report states that "the health of the people must be put first ahead of the interests of participants in the alcohol market." Each year, 23,000 Russians die from alcohol poisoning and more than 75,000 people die from alcohol-related diseases.
"Alcohol abuse is the main reason for the rapid accumulation of demographic and social problems in Russia since the mid 1960s," according to a statement posted on Putin's website.
The campaign hopes to reduce alcohol consumption by 15 percent by 2012 and by 55 percent by 2020. It does not mention state control of alcohol sales or production as demanded by anti-alcohol advocates.
In August, President Dmitry Medvedev ordered tough measures to reduce alcohol abuse. Since then, Russia has tripled the excise tax on beer, introduced minimum prices for vodka and is considering drastic limits on where and when beer can be sold, such as banning the sale of alcohol at street kiosks.
Russians drink 18 liters of alcohol per person each year.

TGIF
Greetings
Many people believe when it comes to living our life and getting through the ups and downs that it's more about our attitude and less about the events. No one of the nearly 6.7 billion people on the planet is exempt from pain, failure, and setback. What makes the difference for all the citizens of the earth is the manner in which we integrate our life-lessons from experiences and the attitudes with which we process them. Why is it that some always see the glass half empty, others see the glass half full? Attitudes make the difference!
Charles Swindoll writes, "The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude is more important than facts, more important than the past, education, money, more important than circumstances, failures, success. Attitude is more important than what other people think, say or do, more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. Attitude will make or break a company, a church, a home, a family. The remarkable thing is that we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... nor the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitude, and ultimately our Life!"
So this TGIF let us take time to check or adjust our attitudes and strive for attitudinal healing. We have so little to complain about when we remember in prayer our suffering brothers and sisters in Haiti. So make sure to cultivate an attitude of gratitude for the blessings of life, and consider our life is 10% the events and 90% our attitudes about them.

When many people think of or hear the word "rehab" they associate it with punishment, with zombies in hospital gowns shuffling down a smelly hallway. In reality rehab is nothing like the public's opinion. When I think of rehab, I think of new beginnings, a new chance at life - no matter how far you have fallen. Our facilty is not a jail, far from it! Everyone that comes here is treated with respect and understanding. Coming to our facility is like giving yourself a clean state and a new lease on life. So no matter how bad off you think you are, give us a call and give yourself a chance to live again.

WE ARE LOVE
Taken from the DailyOm
Love is often presented as the opposite of fear, but true love is not opposite anything. True love is far more powerful than any negative emotions, as it is the environment in which all things arise. Negative emotions are like sharks swimming in the ocean of love. All things beautiful and fearful, ugly and kind, powerful and small, come into existence, do their thing, and disappear within the context of this great ocean. At the same time, they are made of the very love in which they swim and can never be separated. We are made of this love and live our whole lives at one with it, whether we know it or not.
It is only the illusion that we are separate from this great love that causes us to believe that choosing anything other than love makes sense or is even possible. In the relative, dualistic world of positive and negative, darkness and light, male and female, we make choices and we learn from them. This is exactly what we are meant to be doing here on earth. Underlying these relative choices, though, is the choice to be conscious of what we are, which is love, or to be unconscious of it. When we choose to be conscious of it, we choose love. We will still exist in the relative world of opposites and choices and cause and effect, and we will need to make our way here, but doing so with an awareness that we are all made of this love will enable us to be more playful, more joyful, more loving and wise, as we make our way. Ultimately, the choices we make will shed light on the love that makes us all one, enabling those who have forgotten to return to the source.
This world makes it easy to forget this great love, which is part of why we are here. We are here to remember and, when we forget to remember again, to choose love. |

ALUMNI NEWS
The best part of my day is hearing from alumni that are continuing to do the right thing. Whether an alumni calls my cell or if I'm just calling to touch base with someone I have not heard from in a while; I love hearing that they are continuing in their recovery. Typically I get a handful of calls on any given day from people who have graduated from The Treatment Center. It makes my day to hear from them just saying that they wanted to say hi, they are doing great, and that they are grateful for everything the Treatment Center has done for them. We want everyone that comes here to know that we are always here for you even after you have left the facility. I often get calls from alumni who are struggling with issues and either need someone to talk to, or is looking for some help. These phone calls are what I am here for. I enjoy helping a fellow addict in any way that I can. I try to stress to everyone I meet at The Treatment Center that I am here for them 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. If you or anyone you know needs help with anything, please don't hesitate to call me at any time. I look forward to continuing to hear from alumni.
