Do you have a service project idea for the King Holiday? Get it funded!
APPLY ONLINE TODAY! Request funding or register your service project by 5 pm, Friday, December 2, 2011. RECORD FUNDING $ AVAILABLE! This is the only time of the year when volunteer service project funding is available - don't miss this opportunity. The City of Bloomington Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration Commission has $32,000 in funding to support your projects.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS: The Volunteer Network encourages you to plan a volunteer project that:
- Gets necessary things done in the community - address education, public safety, environmental, or other human needs through direct service and citizen action, and strengthen the community through engaging in service - bring people together in pursuit of a common objective of value to the community;
- Reflects the life and teaching of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. - demonstrate Dr. King's proposition that "Everybody can be great, because everyone can serve";
- Begins or occurs in significant part on the federal holiday (January 16, 2012) and include on-going volunteer components according to the needs of your organization.

PLEASE NOTE: Funding amounts are partially based on the number of volunteers, according to the following:
Projects utilizing
- $500 Level - 1 to 100 volunteers
- $1000 Level - 100 to 250 volunteers
- $1500 Level - 251 to 500 volunteers
- $2000 Level - 500+ volunteers
