afternoon of contemplative practices with Rick Roberts and Lindel Hart
Hart Yoga 1 ashfield street | shelburne falls, ma Sunday, February 13 12-3pm |
Greetings! This month I'm excited to say that we'll be joined by special guests Burhan, a Sufi musical group that seeks to explore the intersection between spirit, music, contemplation and performance. Last month we explored using the sounds of the Sanskrit language to focus in on different energy centers in the body while practicing Yoga poses. This month we'll use the traditional Sufi practice of zikr (chanting the names of the Divine) as the foundation for the afternoon to present a practice that encourages everyone to become enmeshed in the chanting experience. Burhan was founded by Kevin Germain, a Sufi teacher of the Qadiri-Rifai Tariqa, who is ecstatic in his singing and also plays oud, yayli tanbur and guitar. Burhan includes Kevin's wife, Dianne Germain, also a Sufi of the Qadiri-Rifai Tariqa, playing ektar; Nur Habib Tivan, a Nur Ask Jerahhi Sufi, singing and playing percussion; Ricardo Frota playing violin; vocalist Belinda Marshall and me playing m ridangam.I hope you can join us this Sunday for a truly unique afternoon of contemplative practices.
let it be love, Rick How precious our time together here truly is! |
