EMI Health Chooses AFMC as Provider Network In AZ

EMI Health, a Utah-based health insurance organization, has chosen Arizona Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC) as its provider network in Arizona for its self-funded medical plans. EMI Health, which recently expanded into Arizona, selected AFMC in part because of its proven record and reputation as the state's largest, statewide independent healthcare network. The AFMC network includes more than 13,000 professionals in 30,000-plus facilities across the state, as well as access to more than 70 hospitals.

 

"EMI Health is happy to serve the Arizona market, expanding our services into another state in the West," said Steve Morrison, CEO of EMI Health. "By working with the Arizona Foundation for Medical Care, we are able to offer a robust network of providers to our members throughout the state."

 

In addition to the vast provider network, EMI Health members in Arizona will benefit from the foundation's cost-effective fee schedules, rigorous credentialing process for providers and commitment to customer service. Looking for a Health Insurance Plan for Clients that have a Pre-existing Medical Condition?   

 

There is a health insurance plan for these individuals - Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan or PCIP.  

 

About the PCIP

PCIP was created as part of the Affordable Care Act. The PCIP program provides a new health coverage option for individuals that have been uninsured for at least six months, have a pre-existing condition or have been denied health coverage because of a health condition, and are a U.S. citizen or are residing here legally. Persons currrently covered by a healthplan, including employer plans, Medicare, Medicaid and existing high-risk pool programs are not eligibile for PCIP. The plan covers doctor visits, hospitalizations, prescription drugs and preventative care services. PCIP is a transitional program until 2014.

Partnership for Patients to Improve Care and Lower Costs for Americans 

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and CMS Administrator Donald Berwick launched the Partnership for Patients.  The Partnership for Patients is a new public-private partnership that brings together leaders of major hospitals, employers, health plans, physicians, nurses, and patient advocates along with State and Federal governments in a shared effort to make hospital care safer, more reliable, and less costly.  Read more...

Healthgrades Names Top Cities for ED Care - Phoenix Ranks 2nd

Heart attack victims and other people in need of emergency care have a

better chance of surviving in Cincinnati hospitals, where risk-adjusted mortality rates for patients admitted through the emergency department are the lowest in the nation, according to a study from HealthGrades.   

 

HealthGrades Emergency Medicine in American Hospitals found large differences in mortality rates for patients admitted through the ED, both by hospital and by market area, based on an analysis of more than seven million Medicare patient records from 2007 to 2009.

Bulk of State's Largest Companies Added Jobs in 2010 

Finally, it appears that a majority of Arizona's largest businesses are growing again. Reversing the trend in last year's report, it appears that more big companies added to their staffs than reduced them over the past 12 months, according to The Arizona Republic's annual tally of the state's 100 largest employers. Companies have been adding workers to expand service lines, grab more market share or just to accommodate customer demand as the economy ramps up again after the recession. Read more...
