Session tunes on website
This is a valuable learning tool for ALL of our students!  We encourage you to visit this site often.  The site has both slow and fast recordings of some of the most commonly taught songs at CIM.  Along with the recordings is the sheet music for the tune.  Thanks to Brian Miller and Shawn McBurnie for working hard to get this information available to our students!  To access this page, click here.

Dear CIM community,

Congratulations!  We've made it through the first month of fall term classes!  It has been wonderful to get to know many of our new students and to welcome back our returning students.  Our halls are brimming with lively tunes and songs!

Our main event this month is our Volunteer Thank You Party, which is this coming Sunday, October 14th, from 4-6pm.  If you have staffed our CIM information booth on St. Paddy's day or at the Irish Fair, helped us move, performed at a community event as part of one of our ensembles, or helped us out at Eigse, Harest Home, or our Minnesota Irish Music Weekend...then you are invited!  Please let us know you are coming so that we can plan accordingly.  Either send an e-mail to Erika or RSVP via your personal invite or the event invite on our CIM Facebook page.  We hope to see you on Sunday.

As the fall progresses, we will be busy planning for Eigse CIM, A Gaela Event (our annual fundraiser and silent auction) in February and for the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend in June.  We are always in need of volunteers with creative ideas and great organizational skills to serve on our committees, so please contact us if you would like to help with either of these events!

We also would like to remind our students to take advantage of our twice-monthly Family Sessions.  These are held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month at CIM.  The sessions are led by CIM instructors and are a wonderful way to learn new tunes, see what your fellow students are learning, share what you are working on, and meet others in the community.  The sessions provide a casual, supportive environment for students at any level.  See exact upcoming dates in the column, at left.

Hope to see you soon at CIM!

The Celtic Junction -
Our Home
The Celtic Junction

Almost one year ago, we moved into our new, beautiful, designed-especially-for-us space at The Celtic Junction.  Though the Center for Irish Music had found a permanent home at the Junction in May of 2009, we had been struggling with insufficient sound insulation and space.  Thanks to serendipity, the generosity of our friends at the Celtic Junction, and you, we were able to commit to moving our offices and teaching spaces into the wonderfully renovated south upper part of the building.
We hope that you feel as comfortable in our new CIM home as we do.  The Celtic Junction is also home to many other dance schools, companies, and organizations (check them out here).  Thank you in advance for your consideration in keeping our space clean and tidy, for keeping small children supervised, and for respecting all of our tenants!
EXCITING GRANT NEWS!

We are excited to announce that we have been awarded an Arts Activities Support Grant by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, for our Minnesota Irish Music Weekend in June 2013!  This means that our planning can get underway immediately to bring you the best traditional Irish musicians for our amazing teaching weekend.  Thank you, MRAC, and thank you to our wonderful grantwriter, Jeanne Morales.

Volunteering at CIM

One of the best things about the Center for Irish Music is our community of involved students, parents, staff, instructors, and community members.  We could not present the events that we do each year here at CIM without you!  There are many opportunities to volunteer each year.  If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know by filling out our Volunteer Form.  We will contact you soon!
