IMDA Educational Grant Program

IMDA Logo
The Irish Music & Dance Association offers educational grants to help students of any age to pursue an interest in the traditional  arts of Ireland.  Grants are used for classes, fees, travel expenses, equipment purchases or other purposes which support the applicant's learning.

The IMDA's goal is to help students who love Irish music or dance to continue their study and to share their interest with others.  The IMDA asks grant recipients to bring new skills back to the community by performing at an IMDA event.

Since its start in 2006, the program has made numerous grants to musicians, dancers and a teacher of the Gaelic language.  The recipients used their grants for travel expenses, to purchase an instrument, and for classes.  The options are as broad as the ideas of the applicants.

Applications are due April 15, 2011.  For more information and to download an application, please visit the IMDA's website.

CHECK OUT AND LISTEN TO OUR SESSION TUNES & COMMON REPERTOIRE PAGE!
Session tunes on website
This is a valuable learning tool for ALL of our students!  We encourage you to visit this site often.  The site has both slow and fast recordings of some of the most commonly taught songs at CIM.  Along with the recordings is the sheet music for the tune.  Thanks to Brian Miller and Shawn McBurnie for working hard to get this information available to our students!  To access this page, click here.

FAMILY SESSIONS
WILL NOW BE TWICE A MONTH

Starting Sunday, April 3, we will be having family sessions twice a month!  Join us on the first and third Sundays of each month from 2:30-4:00pm.

Gerlach girls and Adrienne

Come try out your new tunes and songs in the supportive community of the Center for Irish Music family sessions.  Led by our own instructors, the family sessions are the perfect way to experience your first Irish session.  Make sure to bring a recording device to pick up tunes and songs you don't already know.  We will play tunes from the common repertoire at a slow pace as well as common tunes at a medium to fast pace for more experienced players.
