If you haven't signed up for the music competition at the Minnesota Feis, now is the time! The Feis is being held Sept 25 at the RiverCentre in downtown St. Paul.  This competition will give you experience playing traditional music in front of a judge without traveling out of town.  It's great experience and great practice.  Let's make the musical competition at the MN Feis as important to young musicians as the dancing competition is to young dancers! Come out and support a rich Irish community tradition! Learn more at:

PLEASE WELCOME
CORY FROEHLICH, OUR NEWEST CIM INSTRUCTOR!

Cory was introduced to the Boehm (orchestral/keyed) flute as a child, and continued its study through university. His love of the instrument enticed him to explore its use in traditional music.  A very capable wooden flute player in the Irish tradition, Cory's tandem study of both styles of flute allow him to explore a wide range of elements and genres. He is excited by and specializes in the adaptation of traditional wooden flute techniques such as tonal concept, ornamentation, and phrasing to the Boehm instrument.

New Release of
The Outside Track's CD

Bua, summer 2010
Norah Rendell's UK-based band, The Outside Track, is finally releasing a new album in the United States on the Mad River label.  Irish Music Magazine's review exclaims:   "this quintet has evolved into a powerful focused group. Curious Things Given Wings - an intriguing title for an enthralling CD - sets The Outside Track on a very promising course, highly recommended."  The Ireland Journal says, "the music takes flight the moment the CD is put in the CD player, and hits you immediately with its constant impact and drive."

The US release coincides with the bands' first American tour this September. The tour concludes with a week-long jaunt up to Canada's Cape Breton, where The Outside Track will be performing at the prestigious Celtic Colours Festival.

Albums will be available soon at http://www.madriverrecords.com/

 Get Up Your Irish:
A Celebration in Music & Dance
created by Norah Rendell & Natalie O'Shea
March 11-20, 2011

Echoes of issues that immigrants face today are found in this story of the immigrant experience from 100 years ago.  The music & dance of Ireland tell the story of Irish immigration to Minnesota.  Featuring young musicians from the Center for Irish Music, dancers from O'Shea Irish Dance, and members of the Two Tap Trio.

Get Up Your Irish is the story of a young boy's journey from Ireland to a new home in Saint Paul.  Painted with the stereotype of the combative Irishman, this young hero finds the courage to face conflicts with his fists down, and to unite his community.  Packed with toe-tapping dance numbers accompanied by fiddle, flute and guitar, this show will have your class singing for days!

This is Stepping Stone's best selling show so far, so book your tickets now.
