Sizzling Hot Summer Time Cooking Classes

 

Summer Sauteing -Tuesday, July 5 - 6:30pm - 9:30 pm 

Master the most widely used and arguably most important technique in cooking. This hands-on class features the art of sautéing!  An ideal means for searing or browning food, a process that imparts significant flavor. Learn the tricks of the trade to create a fabulous meal based entirely on sautéing.  

Menu: Seared Scallops with Grits and Sweet Pepper Sauce, Flank Steak with Southwestern Spinach and Tomatillo Salsa, Sautéed Berries with Jack Cake and Vanilla Ice Cream

"Eating Local" Book Launch and Signing Reception  at Open Kitchen on June 25th was a Success! 

 


A community of culinary enthusiasts supportive of eating local foods and sustainable farming practices attended the reception at Open Kitchen on a beautiful summer afternoon to hear Diane Welland highlight some of the topics from her new book "Eating Local" --  http://www.dfoodie.com/. 

   

 

Guests nibbled on a spread of handmade foods prepared by Open Kitchen's Executive Chef Kenneth Hughes and his culinary team that showcased the bountiful of flavors and fresh ingredients of the early summer season.  Chef Ken discussed the sourcing of these ingredients and shared his philosophy and experience of the farm-to-table movement  from his early training as a chef working at L'Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford, Napa Valley in the 1980s.
