April showers bring May flowers and spring has sprung at Open Kitchen!  Spring is a time of growth and renewal.  At Open Kitchen we are constantly striving to provide our guests with fresh, innovative and exciting culinary experiences.  Join us this May as we inspire the foodie in you with our new "Counter Culture Luncheon" experience and expand our bistro dinner service to include Sundays at the request of many guests.

 

Open Kitchen Launches "Counter Culture Luncheon" Wednesdays through Sundays as of May 11, 2011

 

Since we opened our kitchen to the DC Metro culinary scene back in September 2009, Open Kitchen's Chef's Counter has been the hottest seat in the house!  Guests love watching what's going on in the kitchen, interacting with our chefs, socializing with other guests, and seeing their foods cooked up especially for them.

 

 

Starting May 11th, we offer this up close and chef-driven dining experience to guests during lunch time Wednesdays through Sundays.  Get a front row view at Open Kitchen Chef's Counter for an interactive culinary demonstration while you dine on a multi-course, seasonally-inspired themed menu that rotate each week, featuring fresh, local ingredients representative of that time of year.

 

Note:  We will no longer be serving ala carte/bistro lunch from 11am-2pm in May 2011. 

 

Here's how it works:

  • Open Kitchen Counter Culture Luncheon is available Wednesday through Sunday from 11 am to 1pm (seating begins at 11am, demo starts at 11:15am)
  • Open Kitchen Counter Culture Luncheon is reservation driven and offered on first come-first serve basis by contacting Open Kitchen at (703) 942-8148 or sending us an email at [email protected].
  • To take place, each Counter Culture Luncheon requires a minimum of 8 guests and limited to 14 guests. 
  • Guests interact with one of our Chefs throughout the luncheon experience, learning about cooking techniques and ingredients, while dining on a multi-course weekly themed menu that is a combination of the Chef's innovation and seasonal ingredients:
    • Wednesday's Theme Menu:  Handmade Italian Pasta
      • Theme:  Slow life down a bit and experience the joy of tasting a variety of handmade pasta, perfectly paired with seasonal ingredients and sauces. 
      • Lunch package includes:  cooking demonstration, multi-course menu (including dessert), non-alcoholic beverages, and house wine pairings.   $49/person plus gratuity and tax.
    • Thursday's Theme Menu:  Local Regional Cuisine
      • Theme:  Discover the distinctive taste of local cuisine within regions, along with their culinary traditions and preparation techniques.
      • Lunch package includes:  cooking demonstration, multi-course menu (including dessert), non-alcoholic beverages, and house wine pairings.   $49/person plus gratuity and tax.
    • Friday's Theme Menu:  Seasonal Seafood
      • Theme:  You always seek out the chef's seafood specials in restaurants but not sure how to go about buying and cooking seafood dishes in your own kitchen? Well, wonder no more. Open Kitchen Chef will help you learn how to choose delicious seafood that is in season and healthy for you, as well as the environment, prepare them including filleting fish, de-veining prawns, bearding mussels and opening oysters, and cook them up just right including grilling, searing, and poaching.
      • Lunch package includes:  cooking demonstration, multi-course menu (including dessert), non-alcoholic beverages, and house wine pairings.   $59/person plus gratuity and tax.
    • Saturday's Theme Menu:  Farmer's Market Lunch
      • Join Open Kitchen Chef at the Falls Church Farmer's Market at 9 am (optional) and learn about buying local ingredients.  This is followed by using some of these purchases to prepare lunch back at Open Kitchen.
      • Lunch package includes: market tour (meet promptly at 9 am at defined location, tour starts at 9:15 am and concludes at 10:15 am); cooking demonstration, multi-course menu (including dessert), non-alcoholic beverages, and house wine pairings.   $59/person plus gratuity and tax.
    • Sunday's Theme Menu:  Comforting Brunch
      • Brunch package includes:  Chef's selection of brunch favorites (including omelettes, frittatas, quiches, savory/sweet crepes, shrimp and grits, handmade pastries), bottomless mimosa, and brewed coffee or tea.   $49/person plus gratuity and tax.

Open Kitchen Bistro Dinner Service Expands to Include Sundays Starting on May 15, 2011

 

 

Based on overwhelming requests from our guests, we are pleased to start serving Sunday dinners from 5 pm to 10 pm beginning on May 15th.  Reservations are not required but recommended.  Book online at
