Cutting Edge with Open Kitchen's Executive Chef Bernard
Description: "Dinner
in 20 minutes! Participants will dine on meat, fish and vegetables that
they cut during the class. From beginner to seasoned professional, everyone who likes
to spend time in the kitchen knows how important it is to have good knife
skills. In this class, you will work with Open Kitchen's Executive Chef Bernard
to learn the basics of knife usage, handling, care and safety as well as all
the cuts that will make your food look and taste better. And of course, you'll
be cooking and sampling the foods you slice in class! Whether you're just getting started, or need a refresher
course, this class will give you the confidence to cut like a pro!

June Cooking Class and Event Overview
The June Cooking Class Schedule will kick off with Chef Matt Finarelli's Mushrooms 101 class on Monday, June 7, 2010. One of Chef Matt's recipes that will be taught -- Red Wine Morel Cream Sauce was recently featured in the Whisk and Quill Blog. If you are wild about mushrooms then be sure to sign up for this class to learn more about selecting the right mushrooms and then cooking with them. Other classes with Chef Matt include: Open Kitchen's Greatest Hits on Monday, June 14th, Grilling with Beer on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 and Summer Entertaining on Tuesday, June 29th.
You don't have to sacrifice eating healthy and tasty meals on a busy schedule! Robyn Webb will show you how to make Dinner in 30 minutes or Less on Tuesday, June 8. It's All Greek To Me will be held on the following Tuesday, June 15th as Robyn guides you on a Mediterranean journey to prepare fabulous Greek cuisine just like they do in the small tavernas in Greece.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND on Wednesday, June 9th is our Pizzeria Night. Choose from a variety of classic and specialty pizzas using fresh ingredients, watch it made right before your eyes and savor and enjoy with a glass of wine or beer. This event so popular we will be holding it monthly.
Chef Bernard, recently featured in the Washington Examiner, takes the stage on June 21, 2010 with Great Side Dishes and Sauces for Your Next BBQ and The Basics with Chef Bernard: Grand Sauces will be held on Monday, June 28th.
Any one of our grilling classes, Grilling with Beer, Summer Entertaining and Great Sides Dishes and Sauces for your Next BBQ would make a great gift for dad for Father's Day.

Principles of Wine & Food Combinations - June 15, 2010 with Wine Expert, Andy Hoyle The following types of wines will be tasted: Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon. In this class, Wine Expert Andy Hoyle will guide you through the basic complexities of the wine palate and how certain factors can determine the style of wine and effect how foods taste. Gain insights into food and wine harmony while comparing a handful of wine and food combinations. Understand key wine factors such as acid, sugar and alcohol contents, tannins, and how they react to food. Likewise, understand key food factors such as ingredients and cooking methods and how they work with wine.
Our Monthly Tapas and Tango Night on Wednesday, June 23, 2010.  Live music featuring Boris Arratia, socializing, sampling of tapas and cocktails. A great way to finish off "Hump Day".
