Spring Break Baking Camp at Open Kitchen March 29 to April 1, 2010 The Open Kitchen Culinary Team believes
that by building children's knowledge on the foundations of cooking, we
can build the self-confidence that they need to then become creative
and intuitive young cooks! How rewarding to empower your child to
venture into the kitchen to mix, blend, fold and bake.
Our four day Spring Break Baking Camp, for children ages 9-16 years old,
will provide a variety of culinary skills and fun for your youngsters.
Two sessions to pick from These classes will be conducted in our Chef's baking kitchen. Class size is limited to four students each.  These SMALL-SIZE Classes will allow your student
personalized attention from the instructor. Each of the four classes listed below will be offered
during the morning session and the
afternoon. (minimum class size = 3)

What Students will Learn:
In this class, students will follow recipes to calculate appropriate
ingredients and learn the basics of how to prepare and bake an assortment of
muffins.
What Students will Make
*Chocolate Chips and Banana Walnuts Muffins
*Orange and Green Muffins (carrot and zucchini muffins)
*Blueberry Muffins
**Tuesday March 30 - Crazy for Cupcakes
What Students will Learn:
In this class, students will follow recipes to calculate appropriate
ingredients and learn the basics
of how to prepare, bake, and decorate an assortment of cupcakes. They use their imaginations and
talents to decorate and accent the cupcakes they prepare.
What Students will Make
*Traditional Vanilla Cupcake
*Belgian Chocolate Cupcake
*Classic Red Velvet Cupcake
*Vanilla and Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
*Cream Cheese Frosting
***Wednesday March 31 - Chocolate Workshop
What Students will Learn
In this class, students get imaginative and have fun by creating
personalized chocolates.
They will shape, roll, and decorate chocolate truffles with a
variety of toppings; and make hand-dipped strawberries and pretzels in white
and dark chocolate. Baskets will
be provided for packaging up all of their yummy creations!
What Students will Make
*Chocolate Truffles
*White and Dark Chocolate covered Strawberries and Pretzels
****Thursday April 1st - Happy Spring! Happy
Easter! Cookie Gift Baskets
What Students will Learn:
In this class, students get imaginative and have fun by creating their
personalized Spring/Easter Cookie Gift Baskets.
They will roll and cut out homemade cookie dough for baking, then
decorate these cookies with a variety of icings and toppings. Baskets will be provided for
packaging up all of their yummy creations!
