What's The News?! |
SEP 2009 |
Greetings!
First, let me begin by thanking everyone who took a moment to provide such positive feedback about our August newsletter. We hope you continue to enjoy what we bring you.
Secondly, I must send a big THANK YOU to Carolyn Patterson of Takin It Step By Step in Atlanta, Georgia (www.takinitstepbystep.com). Carolyn invited me to assist her in teaching the Chicago Steppin classes on the Festival At Sea cruise last month. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity.
What is Festival At Sea you ask? Well, this year it was 2,700 African-Americans on one ship, including performances by Eric Benet, Stephanie Mills, Kirk Franklin, and A.J. Jamal. Plus, visits to St. Marteen, Tortola, Barbados and Antigua. Tyehimba & Associates has signed up to be a Group Leader on the 2010 Caribbean cruise. For additional information and to see pictures from this year's cruise, see below.
In addition to the cruise information, this month's newsletter also includes updates on our Men's Steppin class and our Youth Education Conference.
...What's The News?!
Sincerely,
Tyehimba Jelani, Owner

Festival At Sea Caribbean Cruise
International "Blue Waters & White Sands"
August 1 - 8, 2010
There are no words to fully capture the magnitude of this cruise and my 2009 Festival At Sea Pictures do not tell the complete story. Next year will be Blue World Travel's 19th year sponsoring the cruise and believe me when I tell you they do an excellent job. The entire cruise is catered to the interest of African-Americans. In addition to the live entertainment, there are a host of dance classes and other activities, including Steppin, Salsa, African, Ballroom, Line Dance, Speed Dating, Battle Of The Sexes, Family Feud, etc.
This year the cruise will take place on the Carnival Valor and sail from Miami and dock in Nassau, Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.
The discounted per person prices range from $1199 to $3199, depending on your cabin selection. To receive the discount, a $250 deposit must be submitted to Blue World Travel by October 31st.
Our group name is "The Blue Waters & White Sands - Cruise Family". Our group code is 970. We have developed a Festival At Sea 2010 Group distribution list for those persons interested in attending the cruise and obtaining regular updates on cruise related information (cruise brochures, booking forms, group t-shirt details, etc). Email us if you want to be added to the distribution list TYEHIMBAJ@GMAIL.COM. |
The "Oakland B Mine" Film Screening
Oakland, CA
"Another Side Of Oakland"
TBA
More than just a film screening, this will be an experience!!! If you have not heard of "Oakland B Mine" or Mateen Kemet, this is your chance to meet a young, dynamic filmmaker based in Oakland. His fresh and insightful perspective is reminiscent of a young Spike Lee. The screening will include the showing of each of Mateen's short films. There will be a brief Q&A session immediately following the screening. This event is a fundraiser to assist in the completion of the "Oakland B Mine" project. Click the YouTube link below to view the video clip of the project.
