Gagnon stellar in 2nd run in alpine opener at Sölden
The alpine World Cup season kicked off Saturday with a women's giant slalom at Sölden, Austria, with Viktoria Rebensburg taking the win. Canadian Marie-Michele Gagnon was 13th, throwing down the second-fastest second run.

Whitewater targets Glory with new lift
Whitewater Ski Resort in Nelson, B.C., is gearing up for winter with a new lift. The Glory Chair, on track for completion by the end of 2010, is Whitewater's first new lift in 17 years, and the sixth lift in the mountain's 34-year history.
