We are still (exactly) one year away from the games, but there is one thing that has become crystal clear over the last few weeks.  Own the Podium (OTP) is working.  Coaches and programs across Canada have credited OTP as a key factor in some of their World Cup successes.

The equation is simple; money invested in sport equals results.  Here are a few more equations for you.  Results equals excitement.  Excitement equals inspiration. Inspiration drives youth participation.  Youth participation equals healthier youth. Healthier youth equals health care money saved.

It has been estimated that every $1 invested in sports can result in a $5 dollar reduction in future health care costs. When it is estimated that Canada spends $2.1 billion each year on health care costs directly attributed to inactivity, investment in sport is smart math.

So the question is no matter what happens in 2010, how do we keep OTP going in 2011? We want to hear your thoughts...

Editors note: watching this clip reminds us that while we are excited about Canada's upcoming Olympic broadcast team, including Brian Stemmle, Karen Percy Lowe and Cary Mullen, it is a television crime that Todd Brooker is working for NBC and not a Canadian network.
