Is ski racing broken? We asked the question before when the Moscow Parallel Slalom was first announced to the world. This promotional event has taken snowsports to where it needs to go - into the entertainment world. Consider Ted Ligety's view of last Friday's event:

"It was really cool and just crazy to race on a ramp of that size. The scene was awesome. People were packed all around the base of the ramp. They had Euro techno blasting and fireworks shooting out the side of the ramp scaffolding after the competition."

Now consider SRC Senior Writer Michel Beaudry's assesment of the current state of traditional World Cup ski racing:

"Ski racing is broken. Our environmental footprint is way too big, the schedule is a silly mishmash of globe-crossing events, nobody in the mainstream really careswho wins the crystal globes, and ski racing is far from the only snowsport game in town anymore."

Is what we saw in Moscow the new world way that will save ski racing? You decide.
